  1. Hi Peaches, thanks for the reply (and thanks for the recommendations too everyone). Ive sent you a PM
  2. Hi I'm looking for some advice on the best way to go about adopting a couple of Guinea pigs. I don't want to risk buying from a pet shop (particularly pets at home) as I understand they don't treat their animals very well so I'd like to get rescue piggies if possible. We had 2 male piggies a few years ago (they came from the pet shop on eccy road and lived full and happy lives) but decided not to replace them as we had our first daughter on the way. She's now 6 so we think she is old enough now to be able to properly get involved in the day to day stuff of keeping animals. Can anyone advise of the best places locally for us to find a couple of piggies(we're in S10)? Also would we be better with males or females? Thanks in advance for any help.
  3. Oh dear - are you sure you wanted to open that particular can (or should that be bottle)...............
  4. Cheers for that Col - glad to hear its being kept as playing fields. I guess that'll put paid to the local dogwalkers using it then.
  5. Does anyone know whats happening with the playing fields on Crimicar Lane (just in front of the Spider Park)? They've been unused for any sports for some years now but I've noticed over the last couple of months that the changing rooms/pavilion building at the Crimicar Lane side has been re-roofed and the long grass was all cut back over the summer so something must be afoot. I know this was owned by Birkdale school and its availability was being investigated by a number of local Junior football/sports clubs a couple of years ago but nothing has happened up until these latest developments. It would be good to see the fields in use again and also prevent any housing development up there too (which has to be a good thing ). Anyone got any info?
  6. I tried to do the right thing coming down the A61 from Sheffield to come off onto Maple Drive (Mcdonalds and petrol station exit) this morning and took the right hand lane as per the road markings. I promptly had to come to a full stop in the middle of the roundabout (right in fromt of an HGV coming off the bypass) to avoid ploughing into a silver focus going straight over onto the A61 (M1 N) exit. She was not alone either, there were 2 further cars I had to let past before I could get to my exit. Problem is, it makes the car in the correct lane look to be in the wrong. I'll be amazed if there isn't a series of accidents on there in the next few weeks. :loopy:
  7. The club itself closed after the main building was burnt down but the driving range has been open ever since. As you go up the hill (Long Lane) its the first road on the left which is about half way up to the brow of the hill then just turn left into the car park after about 50 yards.
  8. Hit the nail squarely on the head there Strix.
  9. Sorry mate but spooferman is spot on - without any witnesses it would be almost guaranteed that the other driver would not be found to be at fault in this situation and far more likely that you would be as you crossed into his lane. It might sound a bit mad but those are the facts.
  10. Anybody know anything more about this? I live up that way and we didn't get any milk delivered this morning - hope the rumours aren't true, our milkmans a top bloke!
  11. Can anyone recommend a company in Sheffield for made to measure wooden gates- the type for your driveway? They need to be approx 5ft wide and I was wanting at least 6ft tall. Many Thanks
  12. This is the sort of over confident attitude that leads to loads of accidents on our roads. If you are swerving to avoid an animal that has that instant run out in front of your car it would be a physical impossiblity to assess the situation around you in time to do it safely. Unless of course you have some sort of super power, in which case I apologise.
