Been called some things in my time. but "Little ray of sunshine" ain't one of them..

Think I've overdone it today, I've just taken the Wheelie bin out, and now I'm shattered, best slow down tomorrow..

Conserve your energy buddy - it will need bringing back in when they've emptied it!

  2. Get well buddy - let me know when you are ready to return and I'll atrrange a deep clean of the bar and surrounding area, and prepare it for re-opening.  It's a good job you got plenty of food in for Flapper - I'll pop in occasionally and keep it fed, so long as it desists from trying to use my fingers as food.

  3. Got a scam today - very believable - from Ofgem  - wanted me to click on a link to get the cash the Govenment had told them to distribute - so I get a "claim your rebate now " button, but it does not link to any official website.  Presumably it links to a very believable looking site that takes your bank details etc etc....

    Stay safe out there folks!

  4. I was one of very many people who took the advice available (from Martin Lewis and others) at the time of the last price increase to stock up on stamps before the rise, as they would still be usable forever.  I have many books of them, and am now told they will not be swapping them for these new ones at Post Offices.  I find this ridiculous.  We're been told we have to fill forms in, give our details, and send them off to change them.  We've also not been told why the new ones have this bar-code attached, or what this contains.

  5. Could it be as simple as you having accidentally changed the "zoom" level you are using?

    Try this:

Press the Ctrl button (usually far left on your keyboard) down and (while it is still held down) slowly push the middle "wheel" button on your mouse forward, until you get to the right size for you, then release the button.

Even if this is not the full solution for you, it should help until someone with more technical background can get to you.

Alternatively, you may have altered the contrast on your monitor (easily done accidentally as many are on the side or close to where you turn the monitor off).  You'll need the monitor manual to help locate the buttons if that is the case.

You're one of the few posters I actually enjoy reading Padders.

Your wit, especially having gone through such an awful event in your family's life is testament to your strength.

We Duffems applaud you for keeping going and also encouraging others to follow your example.

As teetotallers we will not be visiting your bar but, we're sure you can "down a few" all by yourself!

Keep on with your humour and continue posting, you don't realise how many people you help.

    Regards,

    Duffems

There's something I think you are missing here - Padders virtual bar also serves soft drinks, and serves a very eclectic clientelle.  There is always a laugh or 2 in there as well -

  7. Great post Padders - SF clearly helped you, and you in turn have helped others in your posts on multiple topics, as well as running the internationally famous Padders Bar.  Speaking of which:

    1. this was the only place I could go out to, get a drink and a chat, while the Covid Lockdowns were on.  It played a large part in letting me keep what sanity I still have!  Thanks!
    2. .....any chance of a pint?:)

    Agree with that Tops,

But if the Owls are to be serious contenders for the top 2, then they should be brushing aside the Peterboro's.

Be realistic, Padders - you are not up to beating P'bro

I still think we keed to keep the car park - it could be operated seperately from the other concerns

  10. Every generation, and every era has had its good times and its bad.

Every generation, senoirs looks back on "when we were young...." at the good times, and the bad in roughly

    equal measure

If you do meet an elderly grump, you can always get them talking about their "good times" when things were better than now, but you can also remind them that now we are not at war, don't have rationing, don't have many of the diseases they had to put up with... and so on.

By the same token, if you find a senoir saying it's far better now and we've no worries compared to their day, just mention internet scams, banks closing, fuel costs rocketing, global warming destoying the planet etc....

We live in the era we are in - just try and cope with the good and the bad!

  11. People like bad news - it makes them feel sorry for those affected by it  and good that their own lives are better than those others - it gives them a lift.

How often have you seen programmes about great houses, gardens, other people's holidays etc etc, then becoming depressed that your house is small, draughty, the tiny lawn has weeds you still can't get rid of, and your last holiday was pre-pandemic a day-trip to rainy Skeeggy?
