  1. Find insects and other invertebrates at Manor Allotments. Look at them down a microscope and learn how to identify them from real experts. Fun for all the family; children under 16 must have a responsible adult. Sorry, no dogs. Bring a picnic lunch but teas, coffee, water, cake available and enjoy being outside. Entrance to Manor Allotments is just off City Road where the tram comes up onto City Road. Spring Lane tram stop or number 120 bus.
  2. The farmer's market in Nether Edge is open for business today. Cool! Easter egg hunt for kids and easter bonnet parade starting 3pm
  3. Now there's another free event on Monday 19th October. It's an evening with Phil Gomersall, an interesting and entertaining speaker. He's talking about the success of Leeds in promoting and developing allotments. everything from local events right up to Chelsea!! I have heard him speak and he's great! 7.30pm at Farm Road Social Club, S2 2TP and easy to get to by tram or bus.
  4. Don't worry too much about the Allotment Office at this early stage - they know from their own experience that it takes time to tame a new allotment. Follow the advice about tackling the most visible bits first and working your way back. It's very hard work so set realistic goals. And take time now and again to just enjoy it!
  5. I find manor allotments is a lovely place and there are some really nice people (although also a few curmudgeonly old gits like me ) It's lots of hard work but also lovely when you stop and listen to the birds. Taking a plot now is a v good idea as you will get a chance to clear some ground in time to start planting spuds, sowing seeds or putting out young plants. If you're not sure, ask for a small plot to begin with. It's cheaper and less daunting. Enjoy!!
  6. She knows what she's talking about.
