My family kept this pub way back in the 1920s when it was known as Rotherham House. The pub has had many names over the years and in the 1970s was a Berni Inn in its last years sadly it went downhill and closed in 2006 and left to dereliction since. With the Castle Market closing and plans to pull that down what will happen to Market Tavern? Iv looked on the Internet and asked at Howard House but no one has an answer to my question has anyone seen or heard anything in relation to the pub?

I quite like the shops on Devonshire Green. Why not retain them and modernize the whole block it can be done. Sheffield has lost so many fine old buildings over the years.

Is the Duke of York pub still closed or has it been sold the pub is a nice building just woundering what has happened to it ?

Does anyone know who owns it. Had a look the other day the back half of the pub is missing any clues is to why this is and it seems to have fire damage?
