  1. About 2 hours ago I was walking round Woodhouse and a man asked me if I'd seen a dog, black and white border collie. If you read this it's been found and I have a number for the person that's found it, the dog is safe and warm.

  2. Forgemasters have an open day in May or June, tickets are available to friends and family of employees, so if you know anyone that works there ask them about it.

You get a tour around each area of the works, Melt Shop, Foundry, Forge and Machine Shops, the works are 'live' during the tour so you could see steel being melted, cast, forged and machined.

  3. Mark where you want to drill with a centre punch, this will stop the drill skidding away.

You could try with a pilot drill first but it depends on how big you want the holes to be, no point using a 3mm pilot if your final size is 4mm.

Make sure the drill is in good condition and has good cutting edges.

Take care as the drill breaks through the other side, it can grab or as you push through you could break it.

  4. There are other satellites that are visible apart from the ISS.

Another thing to look out for are Iridium Flares, this is when the sunlight is reflected back off the solar panels of an Iridium Satellite. The flare fades in and out like the ISS, doesn't last as long but can be brighter.

I've got an app on my phone which tells me when visible flares are due, their brightness, distance, elevation and direction.

I think the app is a feed from the Heavens Above website.

  5. I went to the Woodhouse tip on Monday at about 4pm, I made three visits each time the queue was short.

There's a sign saying to keep the middle lane in front of the main skips clear so it can be used as an exit, not many people appeared to be able to read this sign as they were still parking in the middle lane to unload their rubbish.
