  4. Hey SWOZ, just thinking about names today, I think one of their names was Leslie? The house on our right side had a mentally retarded boy called Peter? But, I cannot remember any kids - our age - in the two houses on the left of us?
  5. Hi SWOZ, its been so long know that I can only remember you and Cath these days, I remember there were two girls living a few doors down from you but I cannot remember any names. As for the Scooter thing I've already gone through that phase and bought mesen a restoured TV 175, I'll email you a photo :-).
  6. Remember that "open" play ground area between the two flats they are walking towards? It was never used (in my memory) as ball games were not allowed!
  7. I did'nt want to go to La Salle either. I might know you, PM me please.
  8. There is also a group on "Facebook" called "pictures of sheffield old and new" which has some great photographs!
  9. We would shop there all the time when we lived on Portland street in the back-to-back slums.
  10. Nice memories here..., I remember the Friday night (I think) raffle and won - I had to get up on't stage to collect it and I thought I was the "bees knees" that night. I also remember the seafood man (Kearnshaws?) when they came in with their wicker baskets and we would buy some cockles or mussels and a bag of kippers fo't Sunday breakfast - happy memories indeed and a life style so long ago - but gone in a such a short time.
  11. He is still in the band - link here: http://www.brassconstruction.com/bios.html
  12. "I enjoyed the pubs in Sheffield in the 60's - and trips out to Derbyshire.: I have to second this comment
  13. "The snooker tables were still there (although covered in syringes)" That is really sad to read here, I cannot believe it - whatever happened to Pitsmoor as we all knew?
  14. It was a grand night out. A few of us "invaded" the stage and actually danced along with them :-) The next day we found out they were staying at the Grovener hotel and we went there and actually met them and got their autographs! What is "funny" now since I live in the USA they must have wondered what was going on as most of the crowd was white - and there was segregation going on in the States at the time!
  15. Hi Mabel Lily - I lived in Pitsmoor at that time, and heard about the "Arc" when I was at St. Peters school. I was at the City Hall when the 4-Tops had their first concerts in England - where you there?
  16. Hi Mabel Lily - we were part of the same day crowd there then! Many great memories and times. Did you get to see the early motown acts at the City Hall too?
