  1. I'm not so sure about that any more. We both commute, so we need to be able to get our cars out on all but the most exceptional days (e.g. early Dec 2010). Don't mind parking nearer the main roads when it's looking dodgy, but there's no point if they're not clear. The area definitely seems to be like 'Marmite' with the people responding to this thread, but I'm not really sold either way. We are also considering Crosspool, Bents Green, Totley, and Dore... possibly Millhouses. Greystones is too steep and busy with traffic/ parked cars, but thanks for the links GrannyGranny.
  2. So how bad does the weather get there? I thought that Crimicar Lane and Redmires/ Sandygate Rd would get well gritted as bus routes, so there'd be a way out on all but the most extreme snow days?
  3. Please can you elaborate a bit further? What kind of noise did you get through the walls, e.g. could you hear their TV, or talking, coughing, etc? Agree that the views around there are brilliant.
  4. Any more thoughts on the neighbour noise issue in those style 1970s semis? If any?
  5. I know it's quite bland but that's what must bring it into our price range, it's a compromise to live somewhere with good schools and low crime, without paying over 250k. We are a young family.
  6. We have seen a house we like in the "Upper Fulwood" area, but like a lot around there, it's a 1970s semi. I was wondering what the area is like generally, but also specifically if anyone has experience of living in one of those 1970s style semi detached houses? There are also lots of them in Bradway similarly styled too. What are they like for noise between the party walls? Are 1970s houses badly/cheaply built as some people say, or are they ok to live in? I know in older 1930s semis, the walls between the 2 are quite thick and I don't think there's much neighbour noise, but not sure about newer ones. Thanks
  7. Thats great that there are 2 heartbeats and i really feel for you after going through this on xmas day. What i will say though is, a scan done on xmas day would have , medically, changed nothing and a miscarriage is not classed as an emergency. around 1/4 of pregnancies end in miscarriage. Agreed, they are terribly distressing, but not life threatening, especially when a clinical examination has been performed.. having 24/7 ultrasound cover would be expensive, and pointless. The only use it would have would be "peace of mind" for the parents, and this, unfortunately, is not a medical/clinical benefit worthy of spending thousands of pounds the NHS doesnt currently have...
  8. No. and im an NHS worker. Ive got a decent job, with decent pay, good sick leave, good holidays and a good pension... and there just isnt enough money to keep paying the pension we currently get with everyone living longer & longer.. whether its in credit at the moment or not..., so we pay more in or work longer or a combination of both... simple as that. I dont see what the problem is... and i was appalled to be verbally abused by my own colleagues for going into work on wednesday... to care for sick patients! Disgusting behaviour by grown adults!
  9. sell first, people arent interested in offers if u havent sold yours... this is from experience..
