  1. I train at Gracie Barra Newcastle with a Dave "Speedy" Elliott, a brown belt under Marc Walder. I might be a bit biased but think it is far and away the best club in the area, lots of different people training (15-20+ a lot of nights) lots of people compete Gi and no GI with loads of support from Dave if you are interested in that sort of thing but there are many that don't. Club is open 5 nights a week and does Gi, no gi and mma (Dave has fought a lot in mma as well as prevously as a boxer and kick boxer) and there is also a kickboxing class taught by Ingolf Nelson, former IKF Pro Full Contact Rules European Light Middleweight Champion. The clubs purple belt assistant instrcutor also runs Crossfit Newcastle and are warm ups are often based around cross fit workouts.
  2. Hi John (and every one else at GB Sheffield) It sounds like the club is going from strength to strength since I left. I will defiantly have to come back and check out the new building, although I do realise it’s nearly a year since I left Sheffield and I’ve not been back to visit Still training up here in Newcastle though, getting ready for the Gracie Invitational, Any one from there planning on competing?
  3. Indeed it was filmed back in Janruary in Vegas and is due to start airing in the begining of April. http://www.forbes.com/prnewswire/feeds/prnewswire/2006/12/20/prnewswire200612201130PR_NEWS_B_MAT_NY_NYW099.html
  4. First of all hello ever one from GB Sheffield, hope you are all keeping all right. I was going to email this to John but thought some of the other clubs in Sheffield might be interested as well. Revolution Sub grappling tournament First event is on March 11th and they are planning on holding 4 events through out the year so plenty of chances for people to get some competition experience.
  5. Congratulations Paul mate. I'll be down in Sheffield on Sunday for the competition so will see any one that is going
  6. thought I'd see how Lagarto's first class back was? shame I couldn't make it down but it clashed with a seminar up here.
  7. Cool mate will be good to see you You tube seems to be being rubbish for me at the moment, but there's a few videos up from a recent Braulio seminar at GB Swansea.
  8. Hello all! Sounds like it should be a great seminar, shame I am a bit skint at the moment otherwise I would ahve made the trip down to visit. Hopefully in the new year! Papa John sounds like an interesting character from what I ahve heard. I am planning on coming down to Sheffield at the end of November for the Urban Gorillaz Gi Comp so should see some of you there. Is any one planning on competing? (mainly Greg so I know there is at least one other person in my catogory )
  9. Trust you to cut prices after I leave oh and Greg keep your hands off my blue belt
  10. what could I have possible done now?! ohh and Greg using an internet cafe on holiday is the epitome of geek
  11. I train at Gracie Barra Sheffield, I was sat a few seats down from John. I agree that it seemed to be weel organized and lots of good bouts.
  12. Not Sheffield strictly speaking of course but was nice to see lots of representatives from Sheffield Martial art clubs at the event last friday. Shame they couldn't all win (of course not that they all could of course since two were fighting each other )
  13. Try looking at this article. While the article compairs (classic/Japanese) Ju Jitsu with submission grappling most of the points are the same for BJJ.
  14. Last time I went Wednesday was no gi night, although I haven't been on a Wednesday for a few weeks so not completely sure.
  15. Well I free any time Saturday, what ever is best for you/any one else. Need to start training on Saturdays as soon as possible before me girlfriend gets used to me being around now I am not working weekends
