  1. The point I'm trying to make is authentic food shouldn't be done eg mild med or hot or less or more spicy it should be as it's served at home same heat same flavor as an sirlankan person will eat at home to me that's wot authentic means it should be served as it is and shouldn't have to be modified for someone in any way wot so ever other wise its not authentic that's the issue I had in Chesterfield I tried to serve authentic food but customers was asking me to modify it e.g don't like bones don't like it spicy wont it mild to keep customers happy I did modify it and I'm pretty sure that's wot they will have to do for there customers iv tried east n west ant been to the other one yet will report back to u once I hav
  2. I'm selling them both to pay for this new one it's a shame really iv had my 14years and restaurant 5years i leave next week new owners takeing over sorry
  3. Dhianasta hasnt been open that long so still early days for them east n west have very lil overheads and a few partners to keep it open even if it didnt do well it's just me in my place so gotta worry also it's not my cooking that concerns me it's wether ppl will be willing to try something diff few yes they will most no not all veg is Indian or srilankan to cut costs they hav modified it also its not as spicy as proper srilankan food so still not authentic diff yes not athentic I don't think they are doing brilliant like akbars aagrah shapla Rajput viraaj Kashmiri aroma new India gardens or everest.
  4. You only have to read this full thread to see wot the majority are asking for I could do a run of the mill restaurNt and my regluers will keep it ticking over but I want to do my part to move the Sheffield restaurants forward can't do it alone! If ppl oder off the menu u and like it when they go to another restaurant they will talk I had this at this place the more ppl talk the more restaurants will change and evolve it's slow but its a start I'm talking about these big budget restaurants not the cafe style ones il give it a go but it's ip to you wher it gos
  5. The Bengali community won't support a restaurant like that (tight buggers lol) sadly not meny eat out our aim is to just start it off as well as not digging a grave for ourselfs (doing something new takes alot of guts aspecily if u have a family to feed) that's y we will be doing 2 menus ur run of the mill 7days aweek and a specialist bangladeshi maybe 3or4 nights aweek as a tester like we did in Chesterfield then it's up to the ppl if it's a success we will push for more and so will other restaurants im not doing a cafe style restaurant like east is east if I can get it opened for end of June I hope to enter the British curry awards
  6. It's not that we can't be bothered it's so we don't want to disappoint our regular customers some of them have been useing us for over 20 years I can't just turn my back on them and stop doing wot they enjoy choice is something we'v always gave our customers and it's something we still wana give for the more exprianced customers yes they will try diff things on the menu but the majority will stick to wot they like change is something it has to be done slowly so runing 2 diff menu is a start now it's up to the customers wot they chose y take away the choice and in the last 20 odd years that iv spent in the restaurant trade I no I can't please every one how ever wot we gona do it's only a start if it works others will follow and improve so ul get ur wish sooner or later
  7. The food we eat at home takes ages to make fri and sat nights it will be impossible to serve also the Indian n Bangladeshi veg are expensive so it wont be cheap iv just spoken to 1 of the chefs he said it maybe possible to server it on few weekdays along the normal menu so have the choice we did try this in our restaurant in Chesterfield ppl did have them but asked for meat on off the bone
  8. The style of food is Indian/Bangladeshi unless it's changed hands recently but I'm sure it hasn't lol
  9. We only need 4 good ones to enter and win I'm sure we hav 4 good ones in Sheffield but I need the ppl of Sheffield to do the city councils head in so they enter its got to be a joint effort not a job for just one person!
  10. U can get naga on my menu it's been on for the last 4 years
  11. The Weston slop as u call it made the chicken tikka massala uk's number one dish? The chains of restaurants cook every thing an ship it out from a wherhouse not ur local Indians as iv explained in my other posts if you go to north of India the food is diff in the south it's diff! It varies state to state east n west and that other one are south Indian so ur eating the food from south India most of the Indian restaurants in Sheffield are ran n owned by bangladeshis and pakistanis (all used to be apart of India when the first curry houses opened in the uk) there cooking is diff from these 2 places ur talking about it's not because they are doing real Indian food it's just diff style of cooking
  12. My dads off to Bangladesh next week to get some new recipes iv got some new ideas for some new recipes aswell so u will be spoilt for choice at this new restaurant il keep the size of dish's in mind and put it forward to my dad see what he says thanks for ur feed back with the help of the community we aim to build the best Indian/Bangladeshi restaurant in Sheffield
  13. Hi we haven't found a neme for it yet but got a few that we like from our regluers and ppl in this forum it's not opened yet but will be opening very soon thanks and il see you there hopefully
  14. This year I'd like Sheffield to be entered in the curry capital competition how every I cant do it alone need some help from YOU! If you want to raise the standard of the food and restaurants and keep the restauranteurs on there toes it's needed really badly not only that when they see that the customers are getting more demanding it will force them to move with the times and bring in new talent and new original recipes we need the city council on bord as well so get on to your local councilers and local restaurants and put some preassure on them to enter. It might be just something iv dreamed about but someday I do hope I get a shot at this title see wot you guys think check our this website thanks http://www.fedrest.com/aboutus.htm
  15. Nah il pass on that one thanks lol however few of our regulars have said that lol
  16. From the comments it sounds like most of you would prefer wot restaurants are already doing but with better quality and some of you will like to try some tridishnal dishes (home cooking lamb chicken on the bone) No one like gorden Ramseys fancy cooking? Did I just waist a year learning for nothing then (well not exactly waist I could use some of the skills I learnt)
  17. That's standard in our places already and has always been the case since 1987 till this very day no other restaurant or takeaway could compet wiv the portions with us and valu for money.
  18. Move up the scale bit and try bhona or dopaza shouldnt be hot but ul enjoy it
  19. I don't think my regulars will like me doing a vegi restaurant how ever I do want a unique restaurant like this 1 if we can get it up and running by the end of June will be entering the British curry awards if not il have to wait till next year to enter in the mean time we will be entering a few local competitions and other small ones around the uk
  20. Tiffin? Hmmm wont be a bad name to call my restaurant cheers mate tiffin boxes are expensive to buy I couldn't afford to give them away! Maybe if ppl brought them something like that will work?
  21. Avoid balti king il Neva eat there after wot 2 of the staff told me about it yukkkkkk!
