garryh69 Â Â 10 #1 Posted July 2, 2015 Whilst collecting a take away order from an italian restaurant i was scalded in the premises due to a lid not being on one of the dishes, I contacted the HSE RIDDOR and have just heard back from them saying i need to report to my local authority. Â does anybody know the route i need to go down in reporting the incident? Â Thanks in advance
 Share this content via...
Daven   10 #2 Posted July 2, 2015 (edited) I don't believe that a scald is a RIDDOR.  http://www.hse.gov.uk/riddor/key-definitions.htm  Look at 'What are recordable injuries' - can't see anything about scalding there. I thought it was for serious injuries such as a broken bone or death . Edited July 2, 2015 by Daven
 Share this content via...
xdbx   10 #3 Posted July 2, 2015 Did you need medical treatment? Did you raise it with the management of the restaurant?
 Share this content via...

garryh69 Â Â 10 #8 Posted July 2, 2015 the scald is less than 10% but why would that matter? Â the container was underneath another item in the box the waitress handed over to me it spilled out during transition from her to me. Â The restaurant closed the same night for 2 and half weeks for annual holidays so i haven't been able to raise the complaint with the owner! Â I went to the doctor the following morning and have prescription cream to put on it.
 Share this content via...
xdbx   10 #9 Posted July 2, 2015 So you were IN the restaurant when it happened and never said anything?
 Share this content via...
garryh69 Â Â 10 #10 Posted July 2, 2015 of course i said something. i yelled out and she waitress took the box back from me apologizing.. the chef then took out the container without the lid and put a lid on it and handed back also apologizing. Â I wasnt that painful at the time but within 10 minutes of getting home the pain was unbearable.
 Share this content via...
Daven   10 #11 Posted July 2, 2015 (edited) So we've gone from a RIDDOR report to a scald that needed some cream from a GP many hours later. The takeaway apologised for your discomfort at the time. If the 'pain was unbearable' why did you wait until the following day to see your GP ? I think you need to put the whole thing down to a stitch in life's rich tapestry and get on with your life mate. Regards. Edited July 2, 2015 by Daven
 Share this content via...
xdbx   10 #12 Posted July 2, 2015 (edited) Well there you go then, you went to the doctors and have it on file, submit your claim, I presume thats what your after? BTW having had scolds from hot food and steam, they hurt like bugger immediately not sometime after.
