Tarquin   10 #3 Posted August 9, 2007 Always wondered myself. I was told it had some big carp, but don't really know.   Just the normal crew of fish in there. The shop just through the crossroads at Woodseats was where you bought your tickets from to fish(maybe still is ?).There were some ghost carp in there aswell. I fished there years ago & it was full of trout coming down through Eccy woods.   I spoke to a bloke called Mr Gribbon at the Hamlet years ago about fishing permission. Whitehawk75   10 #4 Posted August 11, 2007 Its absolutely stuffed full of fish. Day tickets available from Woodseats Angling, Woodseats Rd (not at the bankside!)  The day ticket fishing is from the roadside only (opp side members only). Year ticket is £40/year (with an extra £50 for the first year to help with stocking prices)  The fish that are in there are Tench (up to 1.5lb), Roach (1.5lb), Perch, Crusian, Skimmer Bream and brown trout (officially). Apperently someone has illegally stocked a few big carp 5 of which came out a recent corperate match (biggest was a 7lb common)  Take lots of bait. The more bait you have the more you'll catch! Pellet is the cheapest method, but you'll be plagued with skimmers. I fished a 4 hour evening session and got through 1/2 kilo of worm and a pint of casters and half a tin of sweetcorn(and I slowed my feeding down to prolong the session!)  You only need to fish about 3-4 metres out  Bans are no keepnets, no meat (can't remember the rest)  Its worth a visit
 Share this content via...
Tarquin   10 #5 Posted August 11, 2007 "You only need to fish about 3-4 metres out"   Ideal for pole fishing then:thumbsup:
 Share this content via...

Whitehawk75 Â Â 10 #7 Posted April 10, 2009 I don't think there is any more info- Â Its stuffed with silvers and tench- the bailiff informed me there were carp in there, but not many (they'd been put in illegally) Â Use bread flake, maggots and worm/ caster to bag up all year round. If you are fishing from the roadside, then there is a ledge that goes off towards where the water goes into the hamlet (see the rails) Â I fished chopped worm and caster and got plenty of tench (although it was the summer) Â Get your ticket from Woodseats Angling - you can't buy on the bank
 Share this content via...
