Accident on MIddlewood rd thursday
wilderbeast replied to wilderbeast's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
Yeah, that's lucky being so close to the ambulance station. Hope they were ok. -
There was a pretty bad accident on Middlewood road (a few hundred yards past the tram stop towards Oughtbridge) on thursday evening. The car seemed to have hit something and it's entire rear axel was ripped off. I'm a bit of a worrier so does anyone know if the people involved were ok? There was an ambulance there when we went past-must have just happened, I think it was about 11pm.

popped in for a quick drink the other night. seems very nicely done out, relaxing atmosphere, didn't have the usual loud dodgy music. I haven't tried the food yet though. I think it will appeal to a wider range of people now.

How much does it cost for a new roof?
wilderbeast replied to Twitcher's topic in Sheffield Property & Housing
We had our midterraced house roof done 3 yrs ago by Martin Brooks roofers for about 4 grand including velux window. Overall very impressed with quality of work (which is probably why they are not the cheapest, but they were also a grand less than our other quote so not the most expensive either!). That price was reusing any good existing slates and using reclaimed slates for the rest. Real slate lasts many years so this is a good option if you want to save a bit of money whilst retaining character of the house. It's also guaranteed for either 10 or 15 years, can't remember which. Hope this helps. -
I completely agree with Richynomates who has a very fair and balanced view.

There are a few relatively cheap areas to live in and around Sheffield and I believe that Deepcar is one of the best. If you can cope with it being quiet and 20mins drive from Sheffield then I would say this is one of the least rough areas around Sheffield considering the house prices. From my windows I can see nice green hills which make me feel happy every day, and considering how small the area is, there are a few really good shops (good grocers and butchers as well as 2 supermarkets) which are within walking distance. I'm not from Sheffield originally but I'm suprised about some people's bias against Deepcar/Stocksbridge as to me the only major downfall is the distance I need to travel to get to work although I understand that it may not be lively enough for many people!

Renovation projects for sale?
wilderbeast replied to wilderbeast's topic in Sheffield Property & Housing
Cheers for both replies, I'll let you know how I get on! -
Hello, Does anyone know the best source of run-down properties for sale (preferably not by auction). I've been looking for a while in the usual places (Friday telegraph etc) with no success and thought there may be a more specialised source for this kind of property. Cheers

We are thinking of buying wooden sash windows from ventrolla. Just wondered if anyone else had used them and what they thought. Cheers.
