Cycleracer
What about Loxley, Riverlin, they are rivers but could be classed as streams because I think rivers run into the sea. having said that the river Porter and sheaf both run into the Don, I think. simonj
I think the definitive answer is that Sheffield has five rivers. Four of them (Sheaf, Rivelin, Porter and Loxley) are tributary rivers that run into the River Don.

That's the accepted list for rivers, but there are several smaller tributaries, eg Carrbrook, Meersbrook, Bagley Dyke, Limb Brook, Hartley Brook, Totley Brook etc. - some of which had water wheels on them in the old days. And the May Brook which runs into the Porter, and supported 2 wheels in the past.

redrobbo
Don't forget the Jervis Lum, which runs through Norfolk Park - though more of a stream than river.
