Western park entrance

Does anyone know what is going on with the entrance to Western Park? The one next to the University, it looks like they are taking it to pieces. If I remember right someone stole the gates some years ago.

I walked throught the gates a few days ago and there was a van parked there which had a slogan something similar to "specialists in antique ironwork renovation" and they looked like they were painting it.
