gneighbour
Not a lot of help, but I've seen two. One when I was working as an archaeologist and someone cut through a tunnel just as the mole was coming through. It shot out of the side of the trench, frantically scrabbled up to the top and was away in a flash, leaving us all going wha' the.......? what was that? Was that a mole? A mole! Must have been. B****r! The second was just sitting on the pavement, I thought it was a scrap of dark brown velvet but as I bent down to look it seemed to sprout a pink nose and big pink spadey feet that it promptly ran away on. A friend who knows about these things said that the males do sometimes come above ground in the breeding season when they are migrating to find new territories and mates. Can't tell you when the mating season is exactly and even in moley territory you'd have to be really lucky I reckon.
richjob
Try Whirlow Park, the area near the duck pond is full of mole hills, they have almost ruined the grass area.

WallBuilder
I've seen molehills loads but have never seen one in the wild. I'm pretty sure i did see some at London zoo but that's rather a long way to go I suppose. I wonder if Sheffield Wildlife Trust could help you they may know of a mole hospital or similar.
