datal   10 #2 Posted December 4, 2006 I beleive it's available from some Yemeni shops, but does anyone know which one? Probably the corner shops in Havelock square area, I've often seen the local Somalis walking past the Hanover pub with bags of it. One of the stalls in the Forum on Devonshire green used to sell it........ erm!!!!.... So i've been told.
 Share this content via...
cgksheff   44 #3 Posted December 4, 2006 Interesting point, since other threads talk about legalising drugs.  Khat is legal here in the UK. It is illegal in the USA.  Prices here are quoted in one report at around £15/kilo (someone here may know better). Prices in the USA $400/kilo. Guest Mod_Man   #4 Posted December 4, 2006 I heard a few years back that Somali women had asked the British government to make it illegal as it was making their husbands lazy.
 Share this content via...

Joe Totale   10 #7 Posted December 4, 2006 I beleive it's available from some Yemeni shops, but does anyone know which one?  Arab cafe's, Spital Hill or Firth Park... ... or if you see a small white middle aged, bearded man, hoovering frantically - ask him for some;)
 Share this content via...
tallpaul   10 #8 Posted December 4, 2006 Long term use can precipitate the following effects: negative impact on liver function, permanent tooth darkening (of a greenish tinge), susceptibility to ulcers, and diminished sex drive. Khat is usually not an addictive drug, although there are some people who cannot do without it for more than four to five days, feeling tired and having difficulty concentrating.
