Problem at the bottom of Ecclesall Road?

I've just come down Ecclesall road and the roundabout at the bottom has a police car at every exit???

 

They don't seem to be doing much though and I can think of better places to stop for a picnic.

I have it on good authority the air con has broken in the DWP building on Hanover Way - they're probably scrambling a rescue team as we speak

never mind when i left work at 5.30ish the jam round from nu and the dwp off eccy road, all caused by one stupid sheffield city council minibus parked right on the corner of the road to get into greens gym and goes onto the rear of waitrose carpark!!!

Its not just eccy rd thats been hevi on the rozzers, there wer all over town and saville street aswell. Maybe they've had a kick up the arse? Sayin that they just cud have been perving on the ladies??????????? Dont c many girls up Saville street though, they must of been the gay ones waiting for tarmacers or car dealers:confused:

It looked like to me they were getting ready to block off the entrances to the roundabout, maybe to let through some VIP or something.

I was hoping they were going to be parking there every evening - it's funny how all the idiots that usually just park in the middle of the roundabout waiting to go down St Marys Gate were nowhere to be seen. It was superb - traffic could actually leave Moore Street believe it or not.......

I passed that too and couldn't see what was happening, but one thing I did notice was on the other side of Eccelsall Road was a ANPR van checking all passing vehicles to make sure they were legit (tax, insurance, MOT etc).

 

It was a big white unmarked van parked to the side of the road so not many people will have noticed what it was doing.

 

I know that when they use those they normally have several traffic officers hanging around to catch offenders, but I've never seen them close off the opposite side of the road in relation to it, so I suspect that unless someone tried to get away when signalled to stop as a result of the van that it was unrelated.
