Plasterboard insulations

Hi, just wondering if I can use plasterboard (thermal plasterboard) on existing plaster. Or do i need to knock the existing plaster first

You can go on top of old plaster but depends on how your fixing it I would dot and dab and then mechanical fix.

I have fixed therma boards many times over plastered walls using dry wall adhesive with no problems. Thanks
