Oughtibridge biking, people standing in the road?

Recommended Posts

My friend filmed the convoy and biking on his smart phone, quite an old one, and asked me to edit and upload it for him. I finally got round to it...he gave me loads of footage, the videos is below

He also said people were complaining because the crowd were swamping the bikers. I watched from at home as I had work to be getting on with and it did look quite claustrophobic at times, any body else round that way?

To be fair mate it's probably the first time they've seen a wheel out there, so i for one can forgive their excitable nature, on this occasion.

Strange how an ice-cream van was in the entourage.

They had more. I was pretty blown away with the quality of some of those vehicles

To be fair, one of the worst offenders for standing in the road seems to be the camera man/woman of this clip.

This. Oughtibridge was not as bad for people encroaching on the road, certainly not as bad as Buttertubs or Bradfield. The problem with people filming is that they're not really concentrating on the riders and end up being in the way, or surprised when a rider swerves out or changes pace. This is also true if people film whilst holding out the device well away from their body to get a better angle. A number of people had phones hit out of their hands either accidently or deliberately, for being a nuisance.

Exactly, see the Basque supporters and people running along the road with flags and other stuff that could get caught in a wheel in the Alps and Pyrenees.
