I lived there for a year whilst at uni last year and the only problem me and my friends had was one of us getting her car broken into.

 

I thought it was ok personally.

the author had obviously never been to Netherthorpe (or the Manor, Grimesthorpe, Arbourthorne, Attercliffe, Darnall, Low Edges, Jordanthorpe, Batemoor, Firth Park . . . . . . . . . )

Seriously when I moved to this area I was amazed to get a notice through the door from the police telling me I'd moved to a low crime/burglary area.

 

my house insurance is something daft like £2 a month

 

the reason is the area is full of very poor people and generally if somebody wants to rob a house or mug a person they do not target poor areas. they go for easy sellable items that students in Crookes, Walkley or Broomhill will have.

 

Whats the point of robbing a flat in Netherthorpe when nobody has anything worth robbing in the first place?

 

Been here 6 years. Never been robbed on the street, burgled or asaulted. Approached by prostitutes twice.

Currently the police are chasing the three yoofs who got mini-motorbikes for xmas.

 

But apart from that the area's fairly good. Most of the problems are yoof and drink/drugs related, and a morning poilce raid happens only occaisionally.

I wouldn't stand for it.

A lovely estate, wouldn't swop it for the world.

It is a good area but the kids and the drugs give it a bad name. Why move the cop shop out of the area saying we dont need one any more, i think that is a load of balls, more like they cant be arst to deal with it.
