canz
can anyone tell me how i can re-direct a website address so that it will send you to my new website rather than the old one. I have a load of buisness cards printed with the old website on but now i have a new and better site. The old site is still up and has a link to the new one
orbrey
You need a .htaccess file with a 301 redirect - details on how to do it here: http://www.isitebuild.com/301-redirect.htm but there's loads of other pages with guides and even some that'll build one for you. Just make sure the .htaccess file is in the root of your old website and things should work fine.

Ghozer
you could always use meta refresh... <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;url=http://www.new_site.com/"> Stick that in your <head> tags of your index.html.. the 0 represents the number of seconds to wait before redirect
orbrey
You could, but that's not great for your SEO/google ranking (if that matters to you). The 301 redirects the google bots as well, so keeps the ranking where it should be
