andyk68
You need your disc or the ipaddress for your router. Connect your pc to the router with a cable, go to the settings and there is a section in there to do it.
tia1803
so i need a cable? I know the ip address but thought i could access it that way
andyk68
I'm not an expert but I believe you need to physically connect the wireless router to the pc via a network cable. If someone would like to correct me please do.
sidbobs
You can connect to your routers config page wirelessly, the same way you would do it if you was wired.
terrorfirma
Obviously, when you try to connect to the internet wirelessly, you will need the new code
andyk68
I'm surprised by that. Whats to stop someone outside your house from changing your configuration? I know there are loads of routers on the market but dont all Belkins use the same ip addy and all netgears and so on?
spooky3
If you can access your config page through wifi, i'd suggest disallowing it! Here's a list of default addresses and passwords... http://www.phenoelit-us.org/dpl/dpl.html
swarfendor437
No they don't all use the same. Belkin = 192.168.2.1 User = admin Password = Not sure - could be admin if not altered from default. Netgear = 192.168.0.1 User = admin Password = Netgear You enter the IP address in any browser and you should get the interface. If you change the password, your session might end abruptly (some routers/access points do this) and you have to log in again with the new password. To change the security setting, say from WEP to WPA2/AES you would have to go to the appropriate dialog box/settings page to change this and save the profile. If you change the security level at the router you will have to make corresponding matches to your wireless connections on the machines used to connect wirelessly. swarfendor43
andyk68
I didnt say they all use the same, I said all Belkins use the same and all netgears use the same, not belkin and netgear use the same.
