does anybody know what number to ring to get old adoption ad birth records?my own of course lol, should it be social services or somewhere else and do you know the numberxx

Hiya, I think u need to ring the Registry Office, not sure of the number, but if u ring the council switch board im sure they will put u through, me n my partner had to do the same thing.

 

Other than that, if the adoption is not on the birth certificate, the town hall should tell u of a place to ring, it tells u all about the adoption x

im thinking more personal records, i knw my adopted mum had a big book of what happend but shes lost it its not the actual certificates i wantxx

Im not sure to be honest, try the adoption thing, im sure they can tell u stuff, otherwise im not too sure, have u tried googling it x

I think you can do it all through the council. They have a great team! Contact them here:

I'm adopted myself and they were able to provide me with lots of information, including my birth name, mother's name etc. They basically take care of everything for you.

EDIT: Just having a look at the links, I remember now that I HAD to go through the council because I was adopted before 1975...

 

"To access your adoption records, if you were adopted before 1975, you need to attend a meeting with an adoption advisor. If you were adopted after 1975, you may request a meeting or receive the information directly. Where applicable, an adoption advisor will contact you to arrange the meeting."
