biggan
As far as I can tell from taking a quick glance at it, the software on that site only allows you to back up your Sky+ HDD or copy its contents to another one. It doesn't allow you to copy the recordings to DVD or watch them on a PC. They always remain in the same encrypted format and are only playable on a Sky+ box. could you not backup your Sky+ and then restore them onto your SkyHD box - so they could be watched off the HD box instead? Didn't think of that. Although I doubt he'll want to void the warranty on a brand new Sky+ HD box by taking it apart to get the hard drive out... marky26_uk
Hi, i did this last year as i had loads of shameless to watch but couldn't watch it on the sky box as i cancelled my subscription. I managed to get my shameless converted to watch them on my pc and the process was very easy. Search for a program called projectx, it's a java based program that can convert the .str files on the hdd to a .ts file format which can then be played with mediaplayer. It takes about 1 minute to convert a half hour program so it's very quick. Note that it will only convert those programs that was recorded off the free to view channels, things off movie channels that aren't free to view can't be converted as far as i know. Anyway hope this helps. Regards, Mark
