Why would you order vindaloo?

Recommended Posts

An Indian friend of mine once made a lamb vindaloo, i was a bit sceptical, being a tandooried anything type. It was the best curry i've ever had, flavoursome and spicy, but definately not HOT.........delish!

If it wasn't hot it wasn't a vindaloo.

What's that curry that's hotter than a vindaloo, is it bahl or something.

That would be a tindaloo.

A good curry shouldn't be all about heat - it's about spices and flavour. :)

Its not only beer swigging men who eat Vindaloo. I love Vindaloo and Phal! People do tend to look at you wierdly when you order one in restaurant. Infact quite a few times I've had the waiters telling me that a Vindaloo is too spicy for a young lady like me and then watching in amazement when I eat it.

And no.....I dont drink Stella!!! ;)

Fish vindaloo. An unholy combination but it works.

Eating anything with chilli kills off some of the taste buds that register heat, so if you eat hot food soon it won't seem as hot and you'll have to put in more chilli to get the same kick. Eating hot food is a matter of practice/acclimatisation as much as anything.
