Moirahyde   10 #25 Posted August 5, 2016 Hi Jo,  Further to the reply from smary, James Willford married Margaret Hembrough 25 May 1837 at Barton St. Mary. Barton is in the Deanery of Yarborough.  James Wilford bap 22 Aug 1813 at Barton upon Humber, parents William and Susannah. His sister Martha bap 3 Apr 1821, parents William and Susannah.  William Wilford married Susannah Brown 13 March 1803 at Barton upon Humber, Lincs.  1851 census - Newport,Barton upon Humber, Lincs. St.Mary's Parish. William Willford, 73yrs, Rope maker. Susannah Willford, 72yrs. Frances Willford, dau, 47yrs. Eliza Jane Willford, granddaur, 8yrs. All born Barton, Lincs.  1841 census - William, Susannah and Frances are at the same address as in 1851. There is also a Jane Willford aged 15. (ages rounded down on 1841 census).  Both William and Susannah died in 1855.  William Willford bap 29 Nov 1778 at Barton upon Humber, parents - Rd. (Richard) and Alice.  There is a marriage between Richard Willford and Alice Burman 1 April 1774 at Tealby, Lincs.  I am having difficulty finding out what happened to George's siblings. Mary, James and Margaret all seem to have disappeared after the 1861 census. I'll have another look tomorrow.  Kind regards, Moira. smary   14 #26 Posted August 5, 2016 (edited) If this is the correct family- Georges daughter Annie married George William Barker in 1895. On the 1901 census they have two daughters Edith M born 1897 and Ellen W born 1900. George Willford and daughter Annie can be found on some of the census returns living with Solomon Beardsley and his wife Ellen. Perhaps that is why she named her daughter Ellen!  Also after Solomon Beardsley died in 1923 he left £360 1s 6d to Annie Barker wife of Geo Wm Barker Edited August 5, 2016 by smary
 Share this content via...
WillfordsOTW Â Â 10 #27 Posted September 11, 2016 (edited) Wow thanks for getting back to me Moira and Smary. I had thought this thread exhausted of info. Â I actually just today started the 14 day free trial on Ancestry UK. Â It is a useful site, tho it has it's limitations. Off the top of my head, I think it turned out James Willford's path was to a workhouse in Brighton called the Race Hill Workhouse. Though could find nothing more on his path. Was a sad moment to think that was where his path had taken him. Â Mary Ann Willford became a servant, though went on to marry a Thomas Willford, she lives at least into her 70s and tho it looks like Thomas passed on (or I guess he could have left her) there was a son Harry Willford, who may have changed his name to William H Wilford, and a step son or grandson called Albert Wilford Cooke, later Albert Wilford. Â Though wasn't able to track the paths of those two. Â I think I wasn't able to find anything on the later paths of the ( sister of George ) Margaret Willford or the aunt Martha Willford. Â thanks so much for the fresh search paths and interesting info. Â thank you Edited September 11, 2016 by WillfordsOTW
 Share this content via...
