peak-polly   10 #13 Posted June 21, 2009 From what i understand, the company do not give out anyones number, they simply send the person your trying to reach a text message asking you to call the person requesting your number... Joey   10 #15 Posted June 21, 2009 I just went to the website to remove my number only to find that no-one actually gets your mobile number at all. 118 texts you to say that someone wants to get in touch and it's up to you to call them. Can't see what all the panic is about to be honest.
 Share this content via...
Womerry2 Â Â 10 #16 Posted June 21, 2009 My mobile number is private, so the only people who have it would only use it to contact me in an emergency. Anybody else can use the landline, which is in the phone book. Â I have chosen to opt out of this service. Two of my family members are very unwell and about to undergo serious operations. I am already sufficiently irritated by pointless marketing texts from my network provider, as all my panic responses kick in every time the mobile goes off. Â So thank you to the OP for the link. PAKS4   10 #17 Posted June 21, 2009 Off the top of my head, I can give you four scenarios:- 1) Fleeing a violent/abusive ex-partner?  2) Fleeing a violent/abusive family situation? (for example, you are the child/ step-child of an abuser, and need to flee for your self-preservation)  3) You are the parent of a child that is being abused, and you, and your child are fleeing?  4) you have a stalker?   From the 118800 website:-  we think you've been misinformed  118 800 is a new service that connects people; we don't disclose mobile phone numbers!  * We do our best to put you in touch with a friend or acquaintance on their mobile when you don't have their number to hand * We never give out your mobile phone number * We never sell your mobile phone number to anyone – including sales organisations * We have no children in our directory  If you'd like to know more, Click here  If you still wish to be ex-directory, please go via our Homepage  Don't see what all the fuss is about !
