I have just read one of yours re family history and Orley St sheffield, I have just stared my family history and have the same problem found relatives, who are called Roberts who lived on Orley St. did you ever get to bottom of correct name of st. My dad seems to think it could be Morley as he can remember grandparents living in Walkley.

I presume you got your address from the 1901 census, the transcribing has a lot to answer for. what name and age are you looking for, will try and find them in the 1891, would think it should be OTLEY ST

yes it was from the 1901 census, The name is Albert Victor Roberts age in 1901 was 29 therfore born around 1872. Name of spouse Alice Roberts

Ther was a Hawley St in the middle of town just off West St I think.

If just spoken it could sound the same.

Many years ago my family used to live on Arley Street which is off London Road.

 

I do not know whether this helps you or further confuses your problem but at least it is a possibility.
