I know this isn't the job forum but this is a heads up for interested people.

We have a 1st Line tech support job available, it's an immediate start and would suit someone with a keen interest in networking and helping people. Job advert is at:

It's a great opportunity for someone interested in the industry to work at a rapidly growing, forward thinking ISP.

Yes Kenney the majority is phone based support, although some of it is answering answering emails as well.

Pay is 6.50/hour for first 3 months and then up to £7.50/hour afterwards. Ths could increase in the future but that's not my decision. Full time is 37.5 hours per week.

Currently support is open 8-10 Mon, Fri and 10-8 Sat-Sun. Midweek shifts for 1st Line are 8-4, 11-7 and 2-10. Weekend shifts are 10-8. It's rota'd so you won't be doing the same shift week in, week out. I think currently each member of 1st Line has to do one weekend in five.

The office is situated very close to Devonshire Green. It's next to the Devonshire Cat pub.

Btw - this job can get quite technical, we're not an ISP that stick poorly prepared people on the phones to work from scripts.

The work 1st Line do tends to be more technical than with most other ISPs. The sort of things they deal with on a day to day basis are:

Windows (from 98 and up), Mac OS X, some Linux (mainly logs and a few shell commands), commercial switches, IPTV, VoIP, remote backup and remote storage systems etc.

It is an interesting and varied job and you'll learn a lot in a short space of time. As we are growing so quick there will be opportunities to grow within the company - we want people to progress and not just get stuck in a rut.
