fnkysknky
I know this isn't the job forum but this is a heads up for interested people. Â We have a 1st Line tech support job available, it's an immediate start and would suit someone with a keen interest in networking and helping people. Job advert is at: Â http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=293633 Â It's a great opportunity for someone interested in the industry to work at a rapidly growing, forward thinking ISP. fnkysknky
Yes Kenney the majority is phone based support, although some of it is answering answering emails as well.  Pay is 6.50/hour for first 3 months and then up to £7.50/hour afterwards. Ths could increase in the future but that's not my decision. Full time is 37.5 hours per week.
Dave650
Hi, Is it on a 9am-5pm basis? And could you tell me where abouts you are? Many thanks  (Not for me but for a friend)
fnkysknky
Currently support is open 8-10 Mon, Fri and 10-8 Sat-Sun. Midweek shifts for 1st Line are 8-4, 11-7 and 2-10. Weekend shifts are 10-8. It's rota'd so you won't be doing the same shift week in, week out. I think currently each member of 1st Line has to do one weekend in five. Â The office is situated very close to Devonshire Green. It's next to the Devonshire Cat pub.

fnkysknky
Btw - this job can get quite technical, we're not an ISP that stick poorly prepared people on the phones to work from scripts. Â The work 1st Line do tends to be more technical than with most other ISPs. The sort of things they deal with on a day to day basis are: Â Windows (from 98 and up), Mac OS X, some Linux (mainly logs and a few shell commands), commercial switches, IPTV, VoIP, remote backup and remote storage systems etc. Â It is an interesting and varied job and you'll learn a lot in a short space of time. As we are growing so quick there will be opportunities to grow within the company - we want people to progress and not just get stuck in a rut.
