  1. I won't be using ladders, I use a rope and harness for any tree work, much safer and you can get anywhere in the crown with no trouble. Not so sure about houses, couldn't use the same equitment and also there's to much risk of breaking tiles and things.
  2. Good point, I will check out my insurance and find out. Cheers for that.
  3. Hello there Just abit of an idea and thought I'd see if people think they'd use me. I'm a Professional tree climber and was thinking about putting an advert up about putting up peoples outdoor Christmas lights in their trees. All to many people have accidents with ladders and this is the worst time of year to get injured and be stuck away from home! What do you think?
  4. Hello bud, sorry for the late reply. I'm a freelance tree surgeon, work for a few different companies. I don't have a stump grinder myself but do have all the climbing gear and saws, so if you need a hand with things just give me a shout. Tatar bud
  5. Wish that was the case up here. Thanks bud
  6. Go for a petrol one. You can get an ms180 for under £200, good little saw for home use. Buy the correct file to sharpen it too as soon as it starts to loose it's edge. If you're trying to take stumps down under ground level you'll blunt the chain straight away and end up in a right mess and it won't do any saw any good. Most importantly, wear the correct protective trousers, boots, ear defenders and gloves and be very careful, you don't get small cuts from chainsaws and a good day can turn to a very bad day within the blink of an eye!! Take care bud and if you're unsure about anything, let me know - I'll be glad to help
  7. I was thinking that! Did you meet him in a car park or did he come round to yours with it?
  8. Thanks for that, I thought I was going blind for a moment there!! That's a shame really because I've only been a tree surgeon for a year now, don't have a chipper, tipper and enough knowledge to just go out and take any job on so that part of the forums no use to me really. I suppose i could see who replyed to tree treads and then PM them, would that be ok? I've got CS30, 31, 38, 39, all PPE, climbing gear, saws and I'm a very hard worker so sure I'd be a great help to someone. It's a pitty there's no way of letting them know on here, where I am and what I can do....
  9. Hiya Anna I saw that but it's looks like it's only for people wanting someone to come and do a job for them, not for people looking for work. I sure it used to say, jobs available and jobs wanted? I just want to make sure it goes in the correct place.
  10. Hiya Is there a looking for work forum? I'm sure there used to be but can't see it anymore.
  11. you had to pay for the lamp post??? that's mad!!! they stole my tools and my fishing tackle so now i can't work and also i can't fish whilst I'm not working. Had insurance for tools, 24 hour cover, but they wont pay up because i didn't save the reciepts - never claimed for anything before so didn't know i had to save them!!
  12. Hey that baby monitor's a good idea, I've been trying to think of something that'll rase the alarm for me without them knowing!
  13. got the locks done but then they smash the windows! I do have a cunning plan but then I get more done than they do don't I!!!!
  14. Just wondered if anyones else has had their car/van broken into in Crookes recently?
  15. It'll be interesting to see if anyone else saw it, it was very odd. People driving in that direction must have seen it too!
