Rileyjay,
Â
I trust you will be ok- as a fellow poster says- any worries check it out with the NHS.
Â
Forgive my curiousity but why did you have it done? Does it feel odd or uncomfortable?
Best Wishes ,

yep- for impetigo.

is this filmmaking around Sheffield good for the cities image? Depends on the content I suppose. Suppose they started shooting round the old markets area- Sheffield would not come out of it looking good I suspect. Any thoughts ?

Anyone have any anecdotes about school nit nurses?

Would be wary about gas masks- WW2 ones had asbestos filters.

Are feral pigeons fit for human consumption?

Hi Givingaway and Denlin,
Â
The chap who murdered Edith Simmonite- a working girl- as they used to refer to them- and left her body in a blitz damaged building near Bridge Street- I must lok him up and report back. As far as is known nobody was actually hung in Sheffield.

If I have got this right the last Sheffielder to be hung for murder in Sheffield lived in that hostel

All the best to Rotherham United in the play offs.

God help us- Wards Smooth ! What an abomination! You might like to see the thread on the Devonshire Arms on Eccie Road.

does the concept of Skyscraper City and character/individuality go together I wonder?.
Someone mentioned the Red House and thats had a decent ransformation in the St Vincents Quarter-which looks good. Sad to say the demise of pubs is going qucker than I thought.Which pub had the last pint of Wards ?

Tony's comments about the apartments made me think back.
Â
Had a brilliant Brewery trip round Wards- the Brewery was on the Sheffield Tourist Intinerary.
-
Ousetunes - you are so right about not smelling it before you necked it. Wards actually changed when they removed the sulphides. Other good Wards Houses - Queens Ground Hillsborough- Shoulder Of Mutton Worrall- Roebuck -Charles Street-Old Red Lion- where ? Masons on Langsett Road. As regards the apartments on the site of the Brewery- there is a rather nice sculpture pointing out that hops are an essential part of the brewing process- well I never !

Cheers Wednesday1.
Â
Nursery Tavern was ruined yeears ago and the Old Pomana was demolished for road widening. There was one- the Rising Sun- off Ecclesall Road where they filmed 'I didn't know you cared' with Robin Bailey, Liz Smith- scripted by Peter Tinniswood.
Â
Is the Vine any good? The old Stag had bags of character too.

got to come in on this one haven't I. I suspect my view point is based on my age-57- but Wards was a good pint if well kept- one you treated with respect. The loss of the Brewery lost a great piece of Sheffield's character and individuality and what remains of the Wards estate were well kept and homely pubs and places I don't venture in now. Of course Wards was a beer that the industrial Sheffield relished and Sheffield's drinking culture has now changed irrevocably. Ecclesall Road has gone down the nick and I will be sad to see the Devonshire close its doors. Best pub round the area has to be the Lescar. Wards Bitter

Thanks both

Hi Razor Sharp,
Â
It's difficult finding out what pubs are listed these days but the Shakespeare is worth fighting for- it has part of a furnance attached to the back of it.
