in order for them not to strike, they need support off the public!! theyve been fighting this for around 3 years but so far managed not to strike. they have no other option, they are being forced and bullied into it, do you really think anyone can afford to strike nowdays???

think about it people??? the fire fighters have been offered money to swap from a 15 hour nite to a smaller 12 hour nite which means even less work as they cant exactly put smoke alarms up at 12am can they? they cant test there cutting gear as it makes a lot of noise n correct me if im wrong but after 11 pm you cant make huge amounts of noise????? after theyve dun checking there equipment which they do at the start of every shift n dun there drill for the nite woteva it may be it would be too late to do anything else if they went onto the 12s. there striking to stay on the longer nite shift, meaning more hours to do work, carying on fitting smoke alarms, n no 1500 pounds. THEYVE TURNED DOWN MONEY IN A RECESSION! what does that tel you??? doesnt take a genious to realise theres a lot more to it than just equalising the shifts as the fire chief puts it? think about it will ya. would you turn down 1500 quid if it was just to move 3 hours i dont think so!!!!

why is it that the police get higher wages, always getting complained about in the news, yet get all the support in the world. firefighters bend over backwards for people go beyond the line of duty n dont moan, never get complaints against them, fight for what they believe is rite n thats protecting the service that the public gets, yet they get slated by the public for doing it. a firefighter gets seriously hurt or killed or attacked violently by a group of youths whilst trying to do their job n no ones bothered, a police officer gets killed n thats it the world stops, no other news matters. why cant all emergancy services be treat the same and be respected instead of abused, there the ones that answer our cries for help???????

thats because you get to see the amont of scum thats on the streets n the police are getting less and less authority over what happens. building fires happen regularly but you dont get to here about them as often, at car crashes the majority of the police not all of them but the majority stand back and wait they dont even try to help out.

the police are also on dam site more wages, did you see the news about 2 firefighters who got seriously burnt trying to rescue a man who was thought to be in the house n actually was in the pub, they got the wife out n went back in for him . one of the firefighters will never be able to return to work again! tell him that they only have to squirt water on to a fire??????

you obviously cant read youve got that the wrong way round there striking cos ther being forced to do 4 x 12 hours there all ready doing the 2 9 hour days n the 2 15 hour nites think you should get youre facts rite before slagging people off!

they mite get to sleep at times n no its not as often as peolpe make out. my boyfriends bin out to fires in the middle of the nite for 4 times in 4 nite shifts you dont here them moaning about it tho! they may be resting but its not like sleeping at home there constantly alert even whilst asleep as they are still on duty n ready to respond to wotever there called to!

when you ring 999 cus ur house is burnin down, your gonna ask 4 the sky installer then are ya?? wot a joke!! theyve been offered a cash bribe do u really think that if it was just about 3 hours n them beeing lazy, do you really think theyd refuse payment, and fight for this long for what they belive in? wake up n start to think a little???? theres a lot more to it the management will not admitt to!!!!!!!!

that is exactly why the firefighters dont want to strike, they like the job as it is and can save money with the shifts theyve got. who do you think came up with the idea of fiiting free smoke alarms eh, not the senior management or fire authority it was the fire fighters. they do the work n get no credit just abuse especially from the people they are trying to protect, you, the public. its ok for people who arnt facing the sack or strike, who get paid far more for a lot less, easier, less dangerous work who arnt having there conditions of service changed. people join because of the oppurtunities, saving lives n the general fact that up till now it was a great job, why should they except changes that would make a mockery of all that. if they can change the shift tmes what else will they change in the future things that will effect the publicssss service, thats what the arguments partially about.:rant: you wernt slagging them off when they worked day and nite during the summer floods without complaing!!!!!! majority of you that are slagging them off will have called the fire service during the floods and will call them in the future, you wont be so eger to slag them off then will ya???????????

my boyfriends a firefighter. they arnt striking because they dont want to change, there fighting to protect the service that the public recieves. next year the government is planning to up our council tax and cut the public sector, mainly the fire and rescue service, cuts meaning less fire engines less firefighters *hence 4 equal 12 hour shift patterns meaning they can knock the second fire engine from stations such as darnall off duty at nite an send the crew for that fire engine to another station to cover which means they no longer need to recruit as often, meaning longer response times putting people in greater danger. as you can see they are all ready short staffed, you only have to look at the number of firefighters on fire engines and latly its only been 4 a fire engine, this isnt enough it should be 5 minimum. the nhs and police arnt facing as much cutbacks as they are on the top of the list for funding the fire service is a lot further down. this is the only remaining option, theyve tried new shift propsals the fire authority (youre elected councillors) are not interested. theyve put forward a shift pattern that will save more money without making cuts but the fire authority dont want it. do you honestly think they want to take this action, especially in the current financial times. they work hard to get the job, they work hard whilst at work, they joined to save lives they have enough to think about with out the added pressure of doing somthing they dont want to do is that really fair? when they respond to youre calls for help every time without fail no matter how large or small the emergancy may be? if you knew the truth none of you would say the things youre saying. they cant get their side accross in the papers its all one sided proppaganda. as for the police there wages are higher. when you fone 999 and ask for a fire engine they respond immediatly and minuites later its rite where you want it at the moment, you fone the police or ambulance and get a crime number n can take hours to arrive, is that the performance you would want from the fire service if youre house was on fire??????????? in my eyes you dont pay more to recieve less youre choice!!!!!!! theres been no negotiation wotsoever just dictation. which is what you get in the armed forces. they want them to modernise so why are they still riding k reg scrap heap death traps as frontline fire engines that the pretend stripper firemen use for parties in and around sheffield? and also being treat like children n ordered about which was supposed to have been scrapped as part of the outcome of the last strike! the public (you) know nothing of what really happens!!!!!:loopy::loopy::huh:
