Yes, I remember Mr Beeley and Audrey, although I thought she lived near us on Stradbroke Rd. Oh no, I remember now, it was Martin Hardy who lived near us, and Audrey married Martin. He was the "captain"(?) when my sister Margaret was queen.
I too went to Richmond Wesleyan Reform Sunday school and went on the Whit walks, probably c1954-1959. I remember my legs always ached marching up Richmond Road.
Our May Queen was crowned at the May concert which was performed on three nights in May after weeks of rehearsals. (I was always a fairy with no lines to say!) I was an attendant when Jennifer Dixon was queen, and the year after that my sister was Queen Lilac. The queen did have a boy to accompany her, but I can't remember his title. Happy days.
