  1. I think I have a copy of that photo in 1953. Which one are you?
  2. Yes, I remember Mr Beeley and Audrey, although I thought she lived near us on Stradbroke Rd. Oh no, I remember now, it was Martin Hardy who lived near us, and Audrey married Martin. He was the "captain"(?) when my sister Margaret was queen.
  3. Anyone remember Down Your Way? And Children's Favourites withh Uncle Max?
  4. I too went to Richmond Wesleyan Reform Sunday school and went on the Whit walks, probably c1954-1959. I remember my legs always ached marching up Richmond Road. Our May Queen was crowned at the May concert which was performed on three nights in May after weeks of rehearsals. (I was always a fairy with no lines to say!) I was an attendant when Jennifer Dixon was queen, and the year after that my sister was Queen Lilac. The queen did have a boy to accompany her, but I can't remember his title. Happy days.
  5. Born and bred in Stradbroke, now in Lincoln. I miss the unique Sheffield accent.
  6. Does anyone remember Janet Bollington? She would have been at Grange school 1960-65.
  7. My dad was an electrician at Broughton Lane in the 50s and 60s, then he moved on to Castle House when it was built. Name was George Wallace.
  8. Does anybody know anything about John Bull and Sons? I've got some old knives with John Bull and Sons, Empire Works, Sheffield on the stainless steel blades. Haven't been able to find anything about them on the internet.
  9. I was brought up on Stradbroke Road and spent many a day in Richmond Park in the 50s and 60s. My grandad was a keen bowler and won loads of trophies at the bowls club there - his name was Jack Styles. We used to go and get pussy willow from the stream that runs though the park. Haven't been there for about 35 years. Sorry - have no pictures. (Had my first cigarette there!)
  10. Yes, sounds like the same chap. I remember seeing him in the 50s and maybe the early 60s.
  11. High Storrs photo. I think Miss Beech is standing behind Miss Gay. Miss Catcliffe (Geography) is 3 to the right of Miss Furtado. Back row 6th from right is a PE teacher, but can't remember her name. Mrs Russell, next to Miss Gay, taught French. I think the woman behind her is Mrs Mossendew (needlework) The only man in the photo taught music. He would drop off to sleep for a minute whilst playing the piano! I can't see the dreaded Miss Teesdale in the photo - maybe I've blotted her from my memory!
  12. I don't remember the bag lady, but does anyone remember the old war veteren who sold matches on the Moor in the 50's/60's? He was blind.
  13. Just found this thread. Yes, I remember Dr O Connell and that dreaded waiting room. We used to live at Stradbroke and had to walk all the way to Manor Top to the doctors (had to be fit, just to go there) If we were really poorly mum would take us on the bus, but that was only if we were on our knees!
  14. I think I must have been in your year. I too remember the names you mention. I left in 1966 after one year in the 6th form. Do you remember Sheila Goodliffe and Glenys Dooley? The picture of the teachers brought back some memories. I remember Miss Teesdale - taught maths and terrified the life out of me.
