  1. Please add yourself to the Car Share Sheffield facebook page to share your journeys.
  2. But they’re not being used enough, maybe because people want a more transparent/people friendly approach that Facebook is more likely to give. Even if one journey is made from this page then that’s a bonus. Some positivity would be great!
  3. Yes because it’s really hard to use them for really local and impromptu journeys ie a trip to town. Those sites are better for one off longer trips.
  4. Hi I’ve set up a car Share page on Facebook. It’s called Car Share Sheffield. Please feel free to add your journeys, and help reduce the amount of cars on the road. Thank you!

  7. I was trying to book the Workstation for my 40th on the 10th Nov as it has great access for my 2 disabled children who are both wheelchair users. They say we can have the room from 4pm as there is another function on in the day and want £750 for the evening plus we have to use their buffet which doesn't look great (£1000). They say they would struggle to make the buffet any nicer as they have 2 other events at the same time....They will make a lot of money on the bar, and I think they're being a bit greedy by not allowing us to get someone else to do the buffet. There are so few venues that would be suitable, does anyone have any other ideas?

  14. Norfolk Road is a lovely road, in fact all the roads around it are as well. There's lots going on in the area, community cafe at Vic Meth centre, community concerts, norfolk sparkle choir etc, and people are really friendly here! Please don't be put off by the S2 postcode, we've lived here for 12 years and never had problems out of the ordinary.
  15. Yes norfolk park's got a field and goalposts. They're at the bottom of the park nr norfolk park rd.
  16. Hi there's a youth group every other Sunday eve at victoria Methodist church, Stafford rd. Have a look on their Facebook page Uth@victoria for more info
  17. We have stared a youth group and have about 25 children attending, which is great but we need a bit of advice about where to get any funding to provide activities. The children have got their own tuck shop up and running and we have badminton, hockey and table tennis set up, but it would be great to get someone in to do some street dance, graffiti art etc with them. If anyone knows of any grants available please get in touch, thanks Catherine
  18. I think the school policy is fair it just hasn't been enforced, enabling daughter to have industrial ear piercing put in, as when challenged about what she would do in pe she believed she could tape it up. I work with many young people with mental health issues and I am careful about which issues I tackle, are you understanding me? Therefore the best solution is to do pe elsewhere and try and get through this year as stress free as possible! Constructive help really appreciated ---------- Post added 23-09-2014 at 13:23 ---------- I have to prove to school she is doing pe, so receipt would be useful.
  19. Some of your answers sound so simplistic, before I had children I would have thought the same-if only it was that easy to parent a teenager! Her ear piercings are part of her self made identity which helps her cope with what life throws at her. She will not take them out and i understand why she chooses not to. i however choose which battles to fight.
  20. My 15 yr old daughter has been told that she can't do Pe at Tapton without taking her ear piercings out. This is the school policy which is fair enough however she was led to believe that as she was able to tape them up for the last 5 years they were not enforcing this policy. This year they are and she cannot take them out and get them back in safely without them getting infected. After a meeting with school yesterday with us both battling our corner about health and safety we came to an impasse and I suggested that I take her out of school for her PE lesson. School seemed happy with this, and it should work well with her having double PE with break in the middle (10.15-12.30). I tried to book a spin session at Ponds Forge which was easy for me and then they said she would need to be a member. At £12/month this is fine, then they said she would need to be linked to an adult member and her amount would come out of their direct debit. I can't afford £42/month for us both to take her to a session each week. Kevin the manager said he would try to do something about this in the future but it would take a long time to change their policy. PE is tomorrow morning and i need to find a class i can take her to ( I am happy to do it aswell). I'm annoyed that it is so difficult for young people to book onto a fitness session and could do with some help if anyone has any ideas about where i could take her as i need proof of her doing PE to take to school, many thanks, Catherine
  21. Could be that parents bringing students to uni this weekend are staying over night.
  22. Check out parkatmyhouse.com I think my house is the closest to the station :-)
  23. Exactly, are you listening Newfield (specifically Mr. Webster)? Why would I consider putting in the transfer form when we haven't been able to visit the school? No parent would. I would have thought that although time consuming, showing prospective parents and students around school was a vital part of what schools do.
  24. No they said they don't show people around until they have the transfer form as this would take up too much of their time.
