  1. Sounds like the Falcon has an axe to grind with the authorities and those that throw illegal parties. Wonder if they were ever involved with Club Shush? Anyway, I can vouch for some of the lads involved in this one and I wouldn't let this lunatic put anyone off what is likely to be a great party.
  2. Since when did patriotism become nationalism? And this coming from someone with the flag of a communist dictatorship in their avatar
  3. I think the interior is quite good. Very basic, airy, doesn't detract from the great food.
  4. The Milestone at Kelham Island. Been a number of times and not only is the food excellent but so is the service.
  5. If you call ACAS they will only tell you to follow the company grievance procedure. Once that process is exhausted, and if you haven't got a fair result, then they may step in and help.
  6. I'd like to bet it's somewhere up West St......
  7. There was a really good anthroplogy program which touched on this subject a while ago, but I can't remember what it was called. Basically, this professor was saying there is no need for terms such as dyslexia, ADHD etc. He explained that not all humans are made the same. Some struggle to ride a bike (issues with balance), some struggle with physical exertion (decreased lung capacity) and so on. His argument was that there are very rarely medical terms developed for these 'conditions' as it is socially acceptable if someone isn't good at sport, or ride a bike. However, if someone can't read, or control their behaviour in certain situations, it is frowned upon. Therefore, medical conditions were developed such as dyslexia and ADHD to remove the stigma that people felt. He said that it is unreasonable to expect that all humans can function to the same level. It is only society that drives the labels. Now it's probably easy to start to pick holes in his argument as a lot of it is very theological. But it is certainly food for thought.
  8. It surprises me how many potential venue managers they are on this thread. Through my involvement with venues I've seen that this is not an easy job. The venue owners are out to maximise revenue, the customers want the best night out possible and the managers are stuck somewhere in between. I think some of the comments here need to be directed towards the venue owners rather than the managers. It is they who set most of the rules.
  9. Sorry, you have stated facts, but then made some rather tenuous links to these facts. Like I said before, if you go to a big club on NYE service won't be as good on that night as it's the busiest night of the year and one where the majority will turn up at once as many have been at a local pub or house party etc. It's nothing to do with entrance fee but your choice of venue. If you wanted top class service you should have gone somewhere small and intimate where it is easier for them to cope with the increased demand (and they will also charge you for it). I have also never had to cope with the 'problems' you describe (other than the bar staff one which is common practice) but I've always made sure I turned up well before 11.
  10. You've just hit the nail on the head there. Everyone seems to want everything for nothing these days. Don't you realise you get what you pay for? If you want to go out on NYE and have the perfect night, book yourself into a top quality restaurant which is small and intimate, that way you are gauranteed to be waited on hand and foot. If you go to a nightclub on NYE then expect it to be busy. I don't know of a venue anywhere in the UK where you are gauranteed a cloakroom space. Nor do I know of a venue the size of the academy that can get over 1000 people in between 11:20pm and 12:00am. You can't just rock up at 11:20pm on NYE and expect everything to work out your way, it's the busiest night of the year! Next year Gamlastan I suggest you plan your night a little more carefully then you won't have to come on here slinging wild accusations around.
  11. The original post was fine. But the constant reminders and then the offer to fall on his sword and quit the forum I think showed him up for the charlatan that he is. Then again, if he can point me to any evidence (a news report etc) I'll be willing to take those comments back and apologise.
  12. So who's telling the truth here? Redroom says the Basics night was rammed, and now you're telling us it was dead (and LiamC1979 seems to be intimating this too?).
  13. Nope, I don't root for the other home nations. However I do like to see great footballers play well. So Maradona cheated once against England. I suppose you've never seen an England player dive or handle the ball then?
  14. You know nothing about me so have no place making those comments. I followed England home and away for more than 4 years taking in Poland, South Africa, Azerbaijan, Austria, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Sweden and many other places (plus a world cup and a euro championship). One of the reasons I stopped going was because of narrow minded blinkered people that couldn't appreciate other footballers and other nations.
  15. Well, lets agree to disagree. I think as a footballer he's a legend. What he got up to in his private life wasn't hurting anyone else so I won't let that cloud my judgement.
  16. I've studied his career, read books about him, he's a legend in my eyes and many others. He made his mistakes as have lots of people. Football nowadays is missing people of his stature.
  17. Butcher is only sore because he got made to look like an idiot for the second goal.
  18. He's a legend. I won't let one moment cloud my judgement of what he did at both club and international level. We will probably never be lucky enough to see someone with his footballing skill ever again.
  19. The guy is a complete legend and probably the greatest footballer ever. He scored a goal with his had, so what? It's only made a big fuss of because it was such a high profile game. The fact that he scored the greatest goal ever in the world cup for the second seems to have passed many by.....
  20. Having worked there as a student I can honestly say they do. Salads etc are made through the night. Bread etc is baked when the bakery opens sometime between 3 and 4 if I remember correctly.
