  1. My 15 year old daughter recently applied for a saturday job advertised on the Sheffield Forum. She was asked to send her CV which she did. About 2 weeks later, she was told that there had been quite a lot of interest and they would like to meet her. She was thrilled. She PM'ed asking for their address and suggesting a time which she could come. They agreed to the time but again no address. She politely wrote and asked if they could send the address.... the day of their meeting came and went and still no address. My daughter is disappointed and so am I. She worked hard to create a good CV, getting good grades at school and working charity events. She has sent her CV out to lots of companies and even offered to get a work permit due to her young age. A few companies have written back to say they are impressed with her CV whilst the majority have totally ignored her. I realise companies must get lots of job enquiries but how long does it take to type "thank you for your interest but we are not employing at this time...." they could even copy and paste a standard response. As for the Sheffield forumer who arranged a meeting without giving an address, I could reason that perhaps they didn't get the message or their internet was down. However, a glance at their public profile and last log in date tells me otherwise. I appeal to Sheffield Forumers advertising their vacancies - please be polite and encouraging and treat people the way you would want to be treated!
  2. My daughter and her friend go from college on fridays, 2-4 is very empty.. about 20-30 people at the most, but last time they went half the rink was shut for curling.. not sure if this is the same every week. But they went last week 4.15-5.30 and said it was also quite empty then, quite a few small children straight from primary school, but no more than 50 people. Hope thats helped
  3. Hi - can anyone help please? I am having a teenager party in a couple of weeks and decided just to do hot dogs for the 70 expected guests. Can anyone suggest where I can buy a big tin of hot dog sausages to save on costs and time opening the tins? Thank you gg
  4. Hey hollyoaks lovers. Have any of you seen them new adverts in the hollyoaks breaks, with Matt and Sam working in load & go? I think they are well funny ! This is part of a new campaign launched by O2 promoting their new Load & Go card. Not only is there new adverts but lots of new feautures are being added to the hollyoaks site everyday, including interviews with the cast.. and a very special feature being added friday where you can virtually tour the set and have the chance to win real merchandise like Darren's pink leopard print pulling shirt! Who wouldn't want that? lol just thought you might be interested ! Check it out http://www.channel4.com/entertainment/tv/microsites/H/hollyoaks/o2loadandgo/360rooms/ and if you've got any questions.. feel free to post here ! x
  5. Hi I have created an Access database with a navigation button on the form. When the Find and replace pop-box comes up, each time the LOOK IN box and the MATCH box defaults to the same place ie MATCH defaults to WHOLE FIELD and I want it to search ANY PART OF FIELD. Does anyone know if this can be altered to default to ANY PART OF FIELD. Thanks for reading gg
  6. Hi I want to book tickets for Michael Ball at Sheffield and they are pretty expensive. Does anyone know where I get a promotional code from which gives me a little bit of money off. Much appreciated. GG
  7. I think it is brilliant. I got one last May and lost 17 pounds by going on it half an hour a day. I am now down to my ideal weight and do 15 minutes every morning either running, boxing, step, hula or a bit of each and it keeps my weight down, look as toned as I ever had and eating pretty good as well - a one off cost is far better than £30 a month at the gym. Good luck gg
  8. I would definitely recommend the card. If you go at least twice a month, it has paid for itself. Cheers gg
  9. Hi - I work as a medical secretary and we are not allowed to give patients any results over the phone without the consent of the doctor - even if we are looking at them on screen and they are normal! This is due to confidentiality and also because of our lack of medical training. It avoids someone giving out a result they have misinterpreted as being normal then it turns out it wasn't. So don't worry, GPs have a lot of results a day to look through and have to review and sign each and every one of them - hope that gives you some reassurance.
  10. Hi - just gaging interest really. My daughter is hoping to earn some money and wondered if there was any interest for visiting different people's house parties at New Years Eve to sing and play. She plays acoustic guitar along with electric - songs like "tears in heaven", "hero", "your call", "chasing cars" - interested to know thoughts. Thanks GG

  20. Difficult one that - I guess I would say something like "working for your company and progressing up the ladder having concentrated on continued professional development and personal development through courses" (anything which shows that you are ambitious) really.
  21. Hi Thought it might be useful to start a thread on possible interview questions and ways of answering these to help the sheffield forumers on the job hunt. So here's mine: What are your strengths and weaknesses. Find a positive strength which relates to the job you are applying for Find a weakness which states that you recognise you have a weakness but you are working to improve this, for instance, I have a weakness in maths skills but I am on a course to improve my number skills. I have a weakness in not organising my time very well but I have drawn up a timetable to look how I organise my day and am working at ways to improve this. Thanks Guitargirl
  22. Hi My daughter leaves school next June having completed her GCSEs and will start college in September. She isn't 16 until end of August. Does anyone know if employers will take on 15 year olds for a part time summer job? I have heard employers dont like employing under 16s. Thanks guitargirl
