Does anyone know where I report people parking across the footpaths. A few people on my road seem to think it's okay to park on their driveway, but overhanging over the footpath so much, that it's impossible to walk on the path, instead having to go around the back of the cars, which with a small child isn't the safest thing to do. I presume it's illegal? Where do I report it? Thanks.

How many have you got? I'll have them, we use them at work for the children to plant flowers in, sand pits, rolling etc. PM if you want.

Oldcotes car boot...does anyone know the seller fee?
sheff_girl replied to Wayneos's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
Last year it was £6.50 I think. Haven't been this year so don't know if it's gone up. -
I bought a hamster from there last year, which died 3 months later. I took it to the vet, and she said that they have a high % of animals that have been bought from there, and are not the healthiest of animals.

Nope, we were fine in Chap.

The one just before the park. Does anyone a) know what it's called, and b) if it's any good. Thanks.

I've been to all 3. I always like the cut from Supercuts, don't think I've ever been unhappy, but because of their waiting system, it does feel like they want to get you in and out as fast as poss to increase the amount of customers (and therefore cash.) Ideal for a spur of the minute or last minute cut. Regis have always been pretty good, but at £25/30 for a cut on my medium length hair, too expensive for me to make it a regular thing. Alan Paul I haven't been to for a while, as they're always booked up, but always had a nice cut there too, but they are (or were) more expensive than Regis. Had my wedding hair done there, and it was great.

Anyone know where I can get a hamster locally?
sheff_girl replied to geenius77's topic in Sheffield Pet Owners
I got my hamster from the new pets at home in Parkgate. It was a male....a week later it produced 8 babies. So if anyone wants one when they're old enough, pm me!! -
To be honest, everytime I've been in Asda, it has said over the tannoy that wheelchairs/prams/pushchairs must go upstairs in the lift, and to not use the travelator, and I can't actually say that I've seen anyone try to.

Thank you, I think I'll take the plunge there. -
....anyone used them? I'm after a complete restyle, and having tried most local shops and Meadowhall, I fancy somewhere new. Walked past this place and it looked pretty cool, but are they any good? Thanks.

Has anyone got any idea if you need experience for this sort of job. I have lots of experience in customer care/people skills. Would it need typing qual? Thanks.

Working for Sheffield City Council.
sheff_girl replied to sheff_girl's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
No, there is nothing in the contract that says it can change. All I know is it's in the hands of the unions right now. Yes, I've phoned the tax credit place, and my monthly payment will go up by approx £45 she said. So not much of a difference really. -

Exactly. I haven't chosen to take a lower paid job, it is going to be forced on me. I'm a single parent, by circumstance, not by choice, and cannot afford to lose the 2 or 3 thousand pounds. So, I will have to look for a new job, as will many of other people in the situation. Hergo, schools will be supported by staff with no or little experience. How does that benefit the most importannt people, the children!! -
Has anyone on here that works for the council in schools, nursery's, etc, heard about the Job Restructuring that's propsed for April I think. It basically means that people who are now on a 52 week contract will be moved to a 39 week contract, ie term time only, which will result in a pay cut of around £2,000 if not more. How are the council getting away with this? Anyone heard anything?

The all things tattoo megathread
sheff_girl replied to loopi's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
Had mine done today, at Eternal Ink. Totally fabulous. Dave did it, and was lovely, even when I had a moment of nearly passing out, he was really understanding, and didn't make me feel too much like a wuss, even though I am. Would defo recommend. Will be going back for sure. Thumbs up from me...thanks Dave (if you're reading this.) -

It's been sold to a museum or some war history place. Can't remember where exactly, but it was in the paper. -

I need a cover up too...of a tattoo that's around 1x1 inch, and black, blue and red. I was thinking of something just plain black..would this work? Any other ideas? Don't want to go any bigger. BTW, It's on my lower back.
