  1. It depends whether you had a passport as a child (not on your parents, your own passport). If you didn't then the answer is no, I'm afraid.

For a 1st adult passport you need to attend an interview so they can question you to ensure that you are who you say you are.

I was told it can take up to 3 months to receive your passport under these circumstances and / or busy times but the usual time is 8 weeks.

  2. I'm 35 - at the start of the year I weighed 13.5 stone - right now I weight just under 11 stone. I used http://www.myfitnesspal.com too - I've gone from a 34 waist to a 30, and now buy shirts in Small rather than large.

According to myfitnesspal jogging on the spot for 30 minutes would burn about 274 calories which is only about the same as 2 cans of beer, or just over half a steak bake.

To lose weight you need to be using up more calories than you put in - for me I had to go down to about 1500 calories a day - try adding up what you ate over last week on myfitnesspal and its probably way over that.

It has an app for iPhone and Android, so its easy to log what you eat and what exercise you do - if you get into it the act of actually logging everything keeps you focussed.

Just wanted to say well done! :).

  3. Try http://www.myfitnesspal.com.

How many calories you would burn would depend on a lot of things such as weight, height, usual activity level etc.

The site is free by the way, just put in your details and the exercise and it will tell you how many calories you'd burn (these things are never really exact to the calorie but it will give you a good idea).

You can't really lose weight from just one particular place. As you lose weight your body decides where that weight comes from but you can do exercise to tone areas.

  5. I've just been looking online on my Virgin Media account and found some details for the broadband upgrade which asked me to fill in some details to order the upgrade. Finding this a little strange I phoned them up. Apparently, due to the large scale upgrade, some customers need to log into their Virgin Media accounts online and actually order the upgrade and the super hub capable of carrying it, they just didn't bother to tell everyone .

So, if you haven't been upgraded as yet, go online on your account and check that you don't need to order it! It's a green box that pops up at the top of the screen once you've signed in, click on the link and it asks you to fill in your details and account number.

They are currently upgrading in the S5 area according to the man from Virgin.

  6. They are particles. It's down to some kind of fluid and when particles block the light you see coloured things or black shadows.

That wasn't explained very well was it :hihi:. It was explained to me by a doctor years ago but I can't remember everything :D. Oh that reminds me, apparently it can be an ageing thing :o. It can also be a symptom of something more serious so if it's happening a lot or you suddenly see them when you haven't before, go see a doctor!

  7. I use one of these for ours - http://www.game.co.uk/en/xbox-360-quick-charge-kit-21698?availTrackingCode=bd926e48d0e7c1f3c967cb797459a2aa

Quick to charge and last a long time once charged too. My battery is around 3 years old now and still works and charges perfectly.

I've had a play and charge one too, that went in the bin. And don't go for cheap versions, they have a habit of killing the battery and don't last as long.

    Hope that helps :).

  8. I would go for a male syrian for a child. Females tend to be much feistier, and less pleased to be handled (in my personal experience)

My daughter and I have had a few Syrians, all female and all handled great. It may be down to how often they were handled whilst young etc. :)

The Dwarf's weren't great to handle, tended to be a bit quicker.

The best thing to do would be to visit the breeder, have a look at what they've got and chat to them about suitability. Although my daughters hamster came from a pet shop and died in it's sleep aged 3y.

Good luck! My daughter now wants one that looks like a cow

  9. You need to look ahead and see which schools these feed into as the choice of secondary is far more critical than primary,as they take the Ebaccs then.

Your greater worry I think is the secondary school, as in our area that's either Springs Academy or Newfield, neither of which is great.

Very, very good points about the secondary links but I wouldn't say it's more important, just as important.

The two schools of choice for my daughter need a bulldozer to ever improve! So alternative school or de-registration it is then! Better to look earlier on than find yourself with a huge battle to face later on.

BUT, a bad choice of Primary School can also put them behind and spoil their view of school itself before they even get to secondary, putting them in the bottom sets and spending a lot of school life struggling in some cases.

Take as long as you can to make a decision, weigh up the pro's and con's of each school and think carefully.

    Good luck :).

  10. Another trip to T'Cross Asda today in the Alcocopter.

This time, I cleverly eschewed the rather potentially dangerous magnetic staircase in favour of a hole in the acoustic tiled ceiling … I knew my 'Flying upside-down' lessons'd come in handy some day!

Having placed the 'copter in 'Hover-mode', I safely lowering myself via 'Sky-Hook' to aisle 'B', and onward toward canned goods. I was on a mission to purchase chicken soup for my friend who'd come down with a bad case of hay-fever from flowering cannabis plants growing in his next door neighbour's window box … solid foods now being out of the question.

Imagine my surprise when I discovered instead of a selection of yummy flavours … just one!

Row upon row of 'T'Cross and Blackwell Primordial Soup'!

'Eh? … what's going on here?' I thought, as prehensile Parsonians pushed past to fill their trolleys.

Then the realisation hit me … the T'Cross Asda was the Parsonians very own mini-universe!

Everything in their little world had evolved from the shelves of primordial soup!

The Parsonians evolution is in a very complex loop … a quick call to Richard Dawkins on the Alcomobile (not to be confused with the Alcomobile) confirmed this!

375 million years ago, a small puddle of primordial soup formed, in a pothole on Wentworth Avenue. Due to astonishing odds, the conditions became ideal for the formation of primitive life ... thanks to a leaky gas pipe and electrical sparks from a vandalised street lamp, the soup transmutated into living matter!

At first, just a semi-sentient blob, over the millennia it evolved into what we now know as Parsonian man (and woman) … not a blob anymore!

Now, fully prehensile, it is able to perform such simple tasks such as rolling a fag, stealing cars and opening (by way of ring-pulls) beer cans and most importantly, T'Cross and Blackwell Primordial Soup cans.

Of course, spillage of such soup is inevitable … and thus, the whole evolutionary cycle begins again … the whole process can be seen here in this well researched document.

So the S5 inhabitants aren't to blame! Damn s11'rs (or S26s depending on your mood) :hihi:

  12. What is the film called? Sounds interesting. EDIT - never mind, found it. But it says it's not out till December this year?

Strangely enough, this topic was sort of raised in a kids tv program earlier today. In short, the electric went off in a set of flats in all but one flat. When other residents realised they had electric they all invited themselves around but no-one knew each other, not even a name.

On my street I would say I know five of my neighbours and it's a long street! I don't think anybody cares any more. I stopped saying hello to people a long time ago when most of them looked at me like I'd got two heads!

Yes, I reckon I'd be missed, it would be too quiet around here :D.

  13. If we didn't need them they wouldn't employ them so if people parked where they should instead of where they shouldn't we'd have less wardens. That means less jobs too though I suppose!

I've got a ticket for parking in a restaurant car park whilst using the restaurant :suspect:, but I wouldn't park on double yellows etc, it drives me mad when others do it and cause problems. Unfortunately the police are good at parking on yellows when they want a bacon sandwich :hihi:
