  2. i drove past about 45 min ago and it was only shut toward town then. they had ambulances tended to someone of the floor and the stretcher out. there was about 4 cars parked around but none looked smashed up or owt so maybe cyclist or pedestrian? but i didnt get that close a look
  3. I live in the sharrowvale residents parking scheme and a few weeks ago I got a new car, i rang up parking services to change my permit to my new car reg, rang on a sat, no answer, rang on sun, no answer, I rang from work on monday and got it changed but when I got home I had a ticket! So I contested it but they wrote back saying I still had to pay it cos they hadnt recieved my application at the time it was issued, since then I have received THREE more parking tickets in the space of a week despite havin a notice onmy windscreen as instructed sayin parking services had been notified that I had a new car! i don't see why I should pay the 1st tho when Ive had a permit since the scheme started and im penalised for gettin a new car and the parkin people not bein very speedy in sendin my new permit!! at a cost of 5 pounds!! rant over!!
  4. I have been looking at houses for over a year now and the houses I'm interested in have dropped from around 130k to about 110k. I am lucky enough to be able to put down a 25% deposit on a house at 100k. I spoke to a mortgage advisor and he nearly put his back out offering me a mortgage. Seems as a first time buyer I am in a good position here. Granted, the house I buy may fall in value some more but is unlikely to fall by 25% so I won't be in negative equity. In 10 years time it should have risen again, win win!
  5. I'msure this topic might have been discussed before, but where are the best views in Sheffield in your mind? Pictures would be good!! At the top of East Bank Road in (I think!!) Park Grange ??, S2 anyway, the view is amazing, unfortunately I never have my camera on me!! Also not so much of a picture-esque view, but I think looking up towards Manor Park from the Parkway, with all the rows and rows of rooftops, would make a fantastic photograph.
  6. Thanks for your advice everybody. I am just a little wary as I do not know these areas very well at all, and of course when I do buy a property I intend staying there for a long time! As I said before I know Hillsborough well and for about the same money as a 2-3 semi in S5 I could get a 2 bed flat here....But then again do I want to live in a flat in 5 years time?! Cheers Lee
  7. I am looking to buy a house and on a low budget it seems I can get a 2-3 bed semi in S5. Now I am not to familiar with the area, I know a bit of Southey and think its OK, particularly around the Cookson Rd, Donavan Rd area, I would prefer to stay as close to Herries Rd as poss, so whats this area like to live in? Any other parts of Southey to look at/avoid? Don't know much about Parson Cross / Shirecliffe so any info would help. Of course I am aware that S5s reputation may not be the best. Is there any major problems? Without coming across in the wrong way the place I am moving from is not exactly heaven on earth, but its not a complete dive either, so I can cope with a bit of liveliness. Any other areas people can recommend? My budget is 100k tops, pref a bit lower. I know Hillsborough very well but don't think I can stretch to there unfortunately. Cheers Lee
