  1. I have two dwarf lionhead rabbits, which are both about 11 months old. We have had them living indoors since we got them last september, however we have been thinking about moving them to live outside in our garden as we have come to realise our house is not big enough for them. So, I was wondering if people have any advise about any issues around rabbits living outside, once they have spent the majority of their life so far living indoors? We were thinking about moving them outside in the next few weeks, once they have had their appropriate jabs, as I would imagine it was better this to happen during the summer so they could slowly get used to the drop in temperature during the autumn and into the winter, however any advice on this and any other potential issues I might have would be great. Many thanks.
  2. Try this guy http://sheffield.gumtree.com/sheffield/07/46189207.html Based in Worksop, but will deliver to Sheffield for £5. Good quality runs available and can deliver at quite short notice.
  3. Can anyone recommend a couple of good, reasonably priced but most importantly RELIABLE double glazing firms? Would like two or three if possible to compare quotes. Thanks.
  4. Oh, and also you could try getting in touch with Private Rented Standards at Sheffield Council (tel: 0114 273 4680) and they can arrange for someone to come out and inspect the property. Or try this webpage if you have access to the internet http://www.sheffield.gov.uk/in-your-area/housing-services/private-sector-housing/private-landlords/private-tenants for more information Hope this helps
  5. As your landlords sound pretty bad I thought I would post this for your information It does not relate to the lack of repairs etc, but to your bond. If your tenancy started after the 4th of april 2007 then your landlord is legally required to have put your bond in a tenancy deposit scheme and informed you of this within 14 days of the start of your tenancy. If not they are breaking the law and you are within your rights to not only get the bond back but also claim compensation of up to three times the bond. As I say this might not be relevent to you as your landlord may have put it in a scheme or your tenancy may have started before the date I mentioned but as your landlords appear to have no knowledge or interest in even the most basic housing legislation I thought it was worth mentioning incase you were unaware of your rights. Many people are unfortunately which is why landlords get away with it so often - try http://www.shelter.org.uk for more information.
  6. I've bought a house that has some furnuture left in it and need to get rid of it ASAP so I can get a plasterer in. I know there are several charity shops that sell furniture and can arrange for it to be picked up. I have tried St Lukes Hospice in Crookes and Remar but both can't arrange a pickup for a while and I was hoping to get rid of it sooner. Does anyone know any other orgtanisations in Sheffield I could try? P.S. If anyone wants a free cabin bed or dining table with 4 chairs (one broken) then let me know! (person would need to collect).
  7. Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced reliable skip hire company in Sheffield?
  8. I am looking at buying a house currently, and have looked round a really nice one. Only problem is it does not have a central heating system installed. It does have a wood burning stove and the owner had had extensive insulation installed so it was quite warm when we looked round last night. However, in the future we may want to get central heating installed and I was wondering if anyone knew approximately how much this is likely to cost. It is a typical Sheffield 2 up 2 down with an added off shot kitchen, to give an estimate of the size. Cheers.
  9. Hi, I'm looking to buy in the Crookes/Walkley, Hillsbrough area. I've registered with all the main estate agents there and have looked at the properties but I was wondering if people could advise me on which are the best/worst estate agents in that area? Also, are Blundells really all that bad? I have read quite a few bad posts about them on this website, but unfortunately they have the most properties available. Has anyone had a good experience of buying a property from them? Any help/advice would be appreciated. Thanks
  10. I have managed to avoid the charge. I went on the website to get the number and noticed a seperate number of people wishing to return to BT who had previously been customers or if people wished top switch their provider. I rang them up and they sorted it out. I asked about getting an engineer in and she said that they only needed to "flick a switch". THis begs the serious question of why the other man I spoke to said that lots of work was needed and I would have to pay £124.99 for that. Suspicious. Anyone in a similar circumstance should give this a go. In conclusion: Me 1, The Man 0.
  11. Thanks for the info. I think I will ring BT back and demand to know why I have to pay that much. Then I'll look into alternatives if any. Sadly I fear I will have to give into the monopoly.....
  12. I am moving into a new rented house on Saturday and want to get landline/broadband etc set up. I am currently with Talk Talk but have been told that I cannot get it switched over as I would have to start up an account with BT who have now introduced a minimum 12 month contrct and a £70 cancelation fee if you end the contract during this time. So I thought eventually that I would just grin and bear it and jkoin BT. However they have now informed me that I will have to pay £125 to get it set up at the new house, even though all the sockets etc are already there. I am loathed to pay this, especially as it is a rental property and may only be in there for 12 months. So what I am asking is, does anyone know of an alternative landline provider other than BT. I know there are plenty who can replace them (talk talk, virgin media etc) but you already need an active BT landline to do this. Are there any companies who can actually install a landlnie themselves? Thanks for any help you can give. Dave P.S. I can't get virgin media/ntl as there is not an active cable in the area.
  13. I've heard mixed reports from people on this website regarding useing Saxton Mee as an Estate Agent when buying or selling property. However, I was just wondering if people could tell me what they are like to rent a property from. Anyone got any experiences/horror stories? Anyone rented from them and found them to be ok? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks
  14. I've found a flat in Nether Edge that is perfect in terms of the flat and what it costs, however there is a charge of 42 pounds to register and get references checked, then a further 100 pounds in admin charges before the 450 bond. I've never goner through an estate agent before, so was wondering if anyone could help me. Is this a normal amount or is it a rip off etc. Thanks to anyone who can help.
