  1. Another idiot, this one doing a wheelie!!
  2. Just seen idiots at it again, one each way after a pause so possibly the same one! Must have been doing 50 at least, someone must know who they they are, have a word before they kill someone.
  3. Another three idiots intent on breaking the law and making a lot of noise whilst doing so, do their parents know they are out?
  4. The boys with two wheels and very little brain are at it again today, using Yew Lane as a race track.
  5. Younger reader may like to check out; Sheffield City on the Move A look back at Sheffield during the 1960's and 1970's. Not sure what links I'm allowed to put on here but it's easy to find.
  6. I would settle for a temporary camera, it would hopefully alert the offenders and cost them some money! I didn't mention a permanent installation. I cannot answer for the posts apparently hinting at police inactivity, I did not make them. Perhaps you can reply to the posters who made the suggestions!
  7. You appear to be wilfully misunderstanding the problem! At no point has anyone mentioned any danger to houses, the none driving residents who have to cross the road are endangered by the excessive speed of the ignorant drivers. No-one has suggested a police presence, automatic cameras are frequently deployed, they record the speeding cars, take a photo, and allow the police to concentrate on offenders. They also deter potential offenders who ignore the speed limit signs but spot the camera. I find the idea that we have to wait for people to get injured before action is taken offensive.
  8. So the local residents should ignore the dangerous and illegal acts of the idiots? Do you seriously advocate moving house or not visiting relatives and friends living in the area? Why would you want to give the selfish, ignorant individuals a clear run to break the law in a residential area, the 30 mph limit is there for a reason? Anyone slightly less nimble, pushing a pram or with small children must dread crossing the road, there are long stretches without islands, therefore you are faced with two lanes to negotiate!
  9. 2 wheels and 4, seem to be intent on creating as much noise as possible and travelling as quickly as possible Think it's about time for a speed camera, before someone gets hurt.
  10. Mainly due to the last few nomadic years the average attendance for the Eagles is in the range of 1000 - 1500. During the last season in Super League, 1999, the average was in the area of 3500 . While I remain hopeful I always remember the words of a former work mate, "A verbal agreement is not worth the paper it's written on"
  11. At the risk of being pedantic! Rugby fans are sociable people, they rarely travel solo, 500 cars could accommodate two thousand people with ease, two coaches taking 6 care spaces adds 150 - 24, I won't insult your intelligence by extrapolating any further.
  12. That is at least the third time the poster has been confused/careless since this thread started in November, the fact that rugby union has lost some clubs (I would query "a huge amount" by the way!) is not relevant in any way. If you review the entire thread I think I have shown huge restraint so far.
  13. I suggest you take greater care quoting sources without verification, you risk undermining your already fragile arguments even further, would you like to name a Rugby League club that has gone bust in the last twenty years?
  14. Hi Ian May I start by suggesting caution! Crankshafts were generally drop forged items for two reasons; it provided a stronger product and reduced the machining time. If you machine from bar there will be no grain flow to provide the strength, depending on the size of the job this could cause a very serious failure. IMPACTA 65 was a brand name, so far I have not found a chemical analysis. In my experience we would have used EN24, 817M40 or 4340, in the heat treated condition. If you have a sample of the original it would be possible to have an analysis check performed and find a modern equivalent but again that would not solve the grain flow problem. Good luck with your search but please take care.
  15. Would the parents of the 2 and 4 wheel drivers who regularly speed on there please explain to their offspring that 30 is the maximum speed, apart from the ridiculous 110 metre stretch which for some reason has been designated as 40, on Yew Lane, before they cause an accident.
