Far more vehicles turn up  near Hillsborough or Bramall Lane on match days and in the same time frame. Those areas manage.

Try and travel up or down Richards Road on a United match day, absolute pandemonium... cars park on both sides of the road, on corners... I feel sorry for the bus drivers, it must be a test of nerves trying not to rip off mirrors.

  2. Likewise I find it to be very quick to log in and use.

Occasionally I'll have to verify that it's me with a text message code, but the safety net that you get if anything goes wrong with the purchase is totally worth the extra few seconds.

As Stagecoach will no longer be operating the tram network, there will be some changes to ticketing and Stagecoach bus and tram tickets will not be valid for tram travel after Thursday 21 March. Tram-only products can be purchased on the Stagecoach website and Stagecoach App until 21 March and will be accepted on the tram until they expire.

So they're making it more expensive to use for certain people?

Say for example, someone doesn't live near a tram stop but works near a tram stop, which is quicker and more convenient than staying on a bus and waiting for it to do the rounds... their routine would have been to get a Stagecoach bus into town, then transfer to the tram and go to work, on one ticket.

After that date they'd have to either buy two tickets or just lump it and stick with buses and adjust their morning routine.

I can fully get the general reasoning for taking certain services back into public ownership, but surely not if they're going to make it more of a hassle to use?

    so why they didn't...

But that would mean actually doing the job they get paid for? Are you mad? 🤣

Couple of days ago I watched an off road bike, no plates on it, spewing smoke, two riders, no helmets just hoodies pulled tight ride past a junction right in front of a police car, up onto the pavement and across the grass.

The police car turned the opposite direction.... zero F's given.

    This country is broken.

  5. I'm sure I've done one since, but I can't recall what it was, so I'll do the last one I can actually remember 🤦‍♂️

When we had that bit of snow in early Feb we were walking round to the MILs to walk her dog, obviously snow all over the roads, spotted one younger female driver struggling, in front of her car with a mini folding shovel trying to scrape to tarmac to get moving.

We wandered over and gave her car a push, then the Virgin media van behind her.

Carried on trekking round to MILs, part way down her road and the same lady in the car had got stuck again... helped her out again and we offered her the MILs driveway to store her car off road overnight till the snow cleared.

She popped round the morning after, collected her car and left a box of chocolates for us 😇

As he began his Budget speech on Wednesday, Jeremy Hunt vowed that past sacrifices made by those who lost their lives – no matter their faith, colour or class – will not be forgotten.

    The bold.

Surely he missed his own point? It doesn't matter their choice of faith or the colour of their skin, what matters is that they fought and died for their country?

Or am I missing something obvious?

  7. It's always been 10 years away, 20 years away.

The theory behind it is sound, it's putting it into practice that is insanely difficult, because basically they're trying to recreate a star on earth in a controlled manner... however you only need to look at our own star to realise that stars do not behave, they have sun spots and huge solar flares... it's for these reasons that I personally don't think it'll ever come to fruition because it's simply too hard to control.

I think the future of energy will be diversity, don't just focus on building 50GW of wind turbines, because the wind doesn't always blow.

Add in solar, battery storage, hydro, tidal energy, nuclear... as the saying goes; don't put all your eggs in one basket.
