I had to go there as the one on the Moor didn't have an item, very annoying they're closing the one on the Moor. You have obviously missed the heaving modern argos superstore on Angel St then???If anything, close the one on Angel Street, such an annoying place to go to!
At least Argos on the Moor is next to Debenham's where I go often..
Â
Bye bye Argos I guess!
So did I yesterday, shop and restaurant alike; OAPs outnumbered!I must have got brilliant vision as I can see loads of young people on any given day & they out number the older people. -
I remember the says when I used to go out as a youngster and did things outside. These days if I want to do something outside, I just do what I used to do, walk out, visit somewhere, walk in the park. The same there's always been to do, no less.

There are so many and Sheffield so large, where do you live/want to eat?
-
There is a town square, it's actually called Town Hall Square. The confluence of Pinstone Street, Fargate, Leopold Street, Surrey Street and Barker's Pool is actually called Town Hall Square.Down the Moor (as if walking from the peace gardens), on the left hand side.Â
Why don't we have a large town sqaure?
Â
We could use it for markets, gatherings etc.
Â
Wouldn't cost much to lay the cobbles. And funds could be diverted to the other stalled projects.
It's mostly paved now.
-
Did someone accidentally eat something there?

You must mean barging inYou should probably just read the highway code, the bit on filtering particularly. -
There used to be stacks of cardboard boxes left over from the fruit/veg deliveries at the tills. There also used to be glass collections..Yes. I also remember either they didnt have carrier bags or my Mum was too tight to buy them and we used to pack the groceries in the empty boxes that were at the tills.Â
Theres one for all you recycling nuts! No plastic bags, just re used cardboard boxes!!

For once I agree with you. When will the urban clearway be put in place like on Abbeydale or Queens Road to allow two lanes in both directions, or even two/one lane à -la-Queens Road? The road through Woodseats is over capacity for much of the day, the only way it could be resolved is to increase the capacity ie more lanes. -
I always thought one had to use a lane. If there are two lanes with vehicles in both there's nowhere to go other than waiting with the rest.Because we are allowed to do it - and are taught how to do it safely....Â
Perhaps next time there's a queue I'll turn the engine off and push the car/van on the pavement then back onto the road and get back in.

I was saying no lights is better than someI'm not saying it's necessary but some light is better than none.
We are all responsible for our actions. As an a-side, Asda might not need to light up their car park like a football ground.Nope, the fault lies fairly and squarely on the drivers shoulders. They are responsible for the actions they take when driving their car....not Asda. -
Because it's unnecessary, as unnecessary as fog lights when there's no fog and full headlights on in the middle of the day..Equally puzzling is why cars bound for i.e. Norway, Sweden are equipped with daylight bulbs that illuminate with the ignition yet not for our own market. -
The other half registered to North East DerbyshireThe council should do spot checks on the taxi drivers. I bet half of them are not the registered licence holder. I have heard that some drivers loan out the taxis to relatives and friends. -
Taxis park particularly badly around the station. Yes the Council has marked more bays for taxis but they're everywhere; Turner Street, Cross Turner Street. I've seen them backing up across Suffolk Road onto Fornham Street. The whole of Cross Turner is full of them, around the loop, more cars in the drop off zone which criscrosses the taxi loop. The taxi rank is a mess, the number of cabs which seem content to park there for hours are too numerous.
The decision to close the old taxi rank under the arches was half a good idea but that handkerchief of a taxi rank is a mess.
We wish but they're still there, different parties lead the Council with the same imbeciles building crap... some even post here and tell us they're right, they don't listen and they don't care.how could you make it worse its always been an utter shambles They should make sure the people that designed it never work again for the council but what did sheffield council do they let them design the road systymn
I'm glad I'm not the only one. That square outside the station could be so much nicer without that wall of steel hiding the gorgeous station building. Three trees on such a large esplanade. Sheaf House demolished with nothing replacing it. Plans for the replacement actually making me barf when I see the architect's images..Access to the station is a shambles. The whole station front is an abominable eyesore. We need easy access not a concrete, steel and water monstrosity. Whoever designed it and the planners who passed it should be named, shamed and sacked with no compensation. What an impression to visitors of our once great citySuch a disappointment for such a pretty station building.

PS: Thanks Stagecoach for ruining it with more coffee shops and barriers

Engraving the building date above door and window lintels is a tradition. Old and new buildings have them, houses in Totley village have 17xx, 18xx. Whirlow has some with 1995. Some building restoration include replacing or adding the date engraving. When mum & me were driving to Northern General we noticed some houses had dates on them ! Just wondered what this all about ! Is it something to do with when they were built ?I love this tradition.
You're so right, these new builds will be gone when the Victorian and Edwardian constructions will still be standing. Mark my word!Good idea but I doubt new builds of today will still be standing in over a hundred years time as some of the houses on Burngreave Road are (quoted earlier). -
