  1. Hi was it Patricia Woodcock, if so she lived across the road from me and was slightly older, as I recall her parents were separated and she lived with her mother
  2. anyone remember Alan Fritchley who was a draughtsman and worked in the Drawing office
  3. My dad worked in SuffolK house drawing office , he was Alan Fritchley if anyone can remember him. Sadly he dies in 1977 from a heart attack, but I would love to know if anyone remembers him
  4. Ann I was in the same year as Kay at Hucklow Road and remember her well
  5. Does no-one remember the Refuge Assurance Company on Page Hall - I started working there in 1973, the manager was called Mr Thickett, it eventually closed down round about 1977.
  6. I started at Hucklow Road infants in 1960, Miss Martin was the head mistress and Mr Bradley was headmaster of the Juniors - can anyone remember Mrs Clark- if you didn't know something she chucked the blackboard rubber at you.
  7. I lived on Horndean Road at Firvale, but spent a lot of time in and around Firth Park so knew the area well. I was at Hucklow Road Infants and Juniors and went to Shiregreen in 1967 from what I remember my form tutor was Miss Baggley (or something similar) absolutely hated her, she taught RE, remember walking out of school one day and going to my Grandma at Attercliffe as the stupid woman had thrown a dickie fit over a letter that I hadn't taken back. I transferred to Hinde House in 1969 under the regime of Mr Edwards and his small sidekick who for the life of me I can't remember his name, only remember that when talking to him you felt like patting him on the head, both of them used to swish around school like Darth Vader. Whilst at Hinde House I went on a trip to Switzerland, Edwards went with his family, got talking to his daughters apparently he ruled them with a rod of iron as well
  8. I went to Shiregreen High School then onto Hinde House and also left in 1972
  9. Been reading the quotes regarding Banners, I spent my childhood down Attercliffe as my Grandmother lived on Chippingham street, remember the off licence and Ainsleys Chipshop well. I was wondering if anyone could remember my grandma she was called Doris Fox, and had a second hand clothes shop on Attercliffe near the Non Political club, until the 70s when it was demolished, she then moved down to Carbrook near the school, she used to deal with a lot of the men from the steelworks who bought overalls from her
