  1. Sounds like a good quote DaveyBoy. We have been looking for someone recently - who have you gone with ?
  2. There was an asian wedding in Millhouses (Struan Road!) over the weekend and the fireworks were for that - quite impressive really. I went to Cliffhanger on saturday followed by the Sharrow festival. Cliffhanger was superb. As a previous poster said the Sharrow festival was free! Although the Sharrow festival was free it necessitated 2 vans full of police plus the outdoor camera team plus the police helicopter to police it later on. It was a good festival also but it must of been expensive (our money) to stage.
  3. Bit puzzled by the old car parking issue. Bramall lane and Hillsboro regularly host 'events' with 30,000 plus people arriving in a 2/3 hour window. So successful are they that they do it every 2 weeks - yes really !!!. The cars somehow seem to be absorbed reasonably easily. The streets around these areas are similar to the streets around Millhouses park ie peoples houses!!!. Not seen much protest from Millhouses residents to the 'chaos' that ensues there but then thats the definition of NIMBY'ism isn't it. Just perhaps - there really isn't much of a problem parking.
  4. I live only a hundred metres away from the park and I am appalled by the behaviour of some of my 'neighbours'. This is a PUBLIC park - fact! Cliffhanger is a PUBLIC event. There are approx 10,000 people from the area that will attend who all contribute their council tax to the upkeep of the park. The park is easily capable of holding the event judging by the scale of last years event. I do not mind having cars parked on my street for a couple of days of this year if that is what happens. We should be embracing any event that promotes outdoor activity and not not flying the NIMBY flag. Where I do have an issue is people bringing up the tragic death in the park last year. The floods in Sheffield were a once in a lifetime event and the previous poster is incredibly callous and shows no feeling for the family involved in trying to link this to Cliffhanger. I also have an issue with dog walkers in the park. for the remaining 362 days of the year myself and my family have to put up with cries of 'he's only playing', 'stay still and he will leave you alone' and 'daddy, i've stood in something'. Read the signs neighbours - No dogs off leads!!!, clean up!!! rant over - enjoy Cliffhanger, I will.
  5. Heeley is a great little pool and the staff are wonderful. Due to work commitments I can only swim there on a wednesday and a friday morning yet friday is Ladies Morning only. I was under the impression that it was illegal to discriminate on the grounds of gender.
  6. I'm from Manchester and tagging of schools is the norm but the taggers all lay off schools for the very young. Sort of respect thing. Guess that doesn't apply in Sheffield.
  7. I see the highly talented Mr Prik has just sprayed his name and the word pussy on the telephone exchange box outside the infants school in Nether Edge. This persons obsession with tagging outside this infants school is getting disturbing.
  8. Deavon, I have to disagree with your last point. The waitress I complained to may not have had the experience or training to cope with a complaint and I have no problem with that, however the complaint was passed to a more senior person as we heard staff discussing this at the bar. They chose to do nothing about the problem. I would say that this is a problem at the pub level and nothing to do with the pub chain, unless of course they have directives from above. I totally agree with all the other points made that the quality of food is probably a result of it being a chain pub now.
  9. I'm particularly impressed with the highly untalented Prik who has now taken to spraying his name all over the walls overlooking the infants school in Nether Edge. This guy is turning into a bit of a creep.
  10. Went there for dinner last night at 7. Its a place that i have been going to very regularly for the last 10 years but recently the food has started to dip markedly from the usual above average. After being told a sizeable portion of the menu was now finished we settled on a kerala curry and my partner had a beef and ale pie. The curry was amazingly bland ie meat in bad gravy and my partners vegetables were completely tasteless and washed out. We complained and were just shrugged off. The staff didn't seem to know what to do when anyone complained. To add insult to injury the staff decided to start rearranging the tables around us stopping us from hearing each other speak. We paid up and left. Its the first time I've ever had to complain about the food and it is also the last time I go to the Dore Moor. A real shame after so many years.
