  1. I wasn't 'posh'! Where's aughton? I moved to Australia 30 years ago. Married with 3 sons. Was an enrolled nurse for 36 years before deciding to go to uni 4 years ago to get my RN! Graduated in July, just to prove a point really! The pays better though. I met up with Ian Clark a few years ago, He lives in Melbourne but haven't heard for a couple of years.
  2. I'm Rosemary Siddall, sat next to susan in 4th form, who are you? I don't remember any Margarets
  3. Whitby Rd Junior, steel works!: Hamilton, Cravens, Ellison(?) and I can't remember the one I was in but it began with H! I was captain (girl) of my house in 1965. Desperately jealous of Marilyn Dunn who got the Head girl job and always wore pretty dresses AND had punnets of strawberries to eat in the summer time! Oh the alzheimers left for a second...it was Hadfields!
  4. A group of us from Whitby Rd Primary used to go and visit a children home with our school's headmaster, Vernon Saxon. I think it was called Fairholme. That would have been '64/65.
  5. I lived in Darnall from 1956/7 - 1965, so I probable saw you on the cart! Didn't know the name of the rag'n'bone man. My brother was in the Darnall Medical Aid Skiffle Group, played the tea chest bass and the banjo! What a long time ago!
  6. Mr Saxon, the headmaster of Whitby Rd School retired to Alford, Lincolnshire, I used to visit him from time to time, he and his wife were lovely. He died a good many years ago now, of a heart attack and his wife Doris died some years later.
  7. I remember getting a goldfish from the rag and bone man! Do you remember the chestnut roasters in town?
  8. I went to Grange from 1965-1970. So sad that those beautiful old houses have gone. Teachers who stick in my mind are Miss Williams (music) Miss Longmuir (French) and Miss Ruff (English). Miss Knaish or Naish (history) and Mrs Senior (art). Who remembers the 'sacred' bowling green?
  9. My dad, Harold Siddall, was a painter at Firth Browns in the 50's and 60's.
  10. My paternal grandmother's maiden name was Sarah Ronksley. Lived in Elgin St., Crookes. She married John Webster, who died quite young, and then Albert Siddall.
