peterw
I am looking for Doris Headford, the youngest of three sisters and two brothers who lived one of the courts in Wentworth Street, Sheffield, which was to the rear of the old Royal Infirmary. I don’t know her married name, but her age now will be around 76 years.

peterw
Thanks for the info re the Headford family, Hazel. If he served in the army during the second world war he was probably one of her brothers. What was the first name of his wife?
peterw
Sorry! Her name was Annie. I should have read your reply better. It gives me a trace, anyway. Thank you so much!

hazel
Sorry her name was Mary not Annie and I am sure he was a Chief Petty Officer in the Navy. So doesn't seem likely. I think he had siblings though don't know names. He was in partnership with a Vincent Hayse, building houses. hazel

HughW
I don't have any particular knowledge of this family but, as it is a rare name, I looked at the indexes of Births/Marriages/Deaths to see if they might help. I think these are the parents: GRO Marriages DEC Qtr 1909 HEADFORD John William HOWARD Mary (registered in Sheffield) and I found 8 possible children (all with HOWARD listed as mother's maiden name): Ethel 1912 William 1914 Harry L. 1917 Edward F. 1919 George H.. 1921 Kate 1923 Mary 1925 Doris 1928 Maybe some of these names will help jog some memories. HughW
Also from the indexes, I think Doris married Frank SELLARS in the first quarter of 1952. Also, I think her sister Mary married Mark WOODHEAD in the first quarter of 1949. Hugh
