Yes, I know the reason. No I can't say. :)

I'll be there though.

Good morning Andy1976. You can't say, if you did what would happen ?

Had a ride out to Friden on Wednesday. Lots of very big fields, I hope they are well drained !

Spoke to a group of walkers, apparently there is a pop concert held there each August, attended by hundreds.

I believe money ( Profit ) as usual is the problem.

Charges for the Bakewell show ground excessive ?

Are the Eroica organisers becoming greedy ?

Was it just the problem of the show ground surface being damaged as it was this year.

They have moved the venue, would have been nice to have been given a reason.

From what I understand (I know people involved) it's more to do with making it a better experience for guests. I understand the old venue was good, but the new one is going to make for a better festival. It's not a profit issue though. Friden is apparently far better in terms of it being a venue for such an event that's getting bigger year or year.

Only reason I don't want to say too much is that it's not really my place. I hear things because of friendships and I value them so don't want to overstep the mark :) Nothing sinister, I just really value being trusted. :)

The one at Bakewell was very expensive I heard and the rides are expensive to, I chose the York Rally which takes place on the same weekend it's much cheaper, and where the hells Friden

Hi Cycleracer !

Some questions for you.

" The one at Bakewell was very expensive " I presume you are talking about the entry tickets ? I think myself the organisers were justified in what they charged because of what was on offer on the show ground.

" .... the rides are expensive too " Lot of work involved in providing feed stations, route signage, marshalls, first aid etc.

York Rally is dated and of course can't be compared with Eroica which is a specialised event.

Your comment " where the hells Friden " was flippant !

Beyond Monyash, you come to Parsley Hay on the Buxton to Ashbourne Rd. Turn left and at Newhaven take the left towards Matlock via Via Gellia. Friden is off to the left.

My comments, not wishing to start an argument !

No offence taken...I know the Peak District very well but must say I have never heard of Friden.

However, I have not been to the bike fest so I will take your word for it but I know people that have and they say the same thing as me

I went to Eroica this year. I cycled in but didn't do the ride because my bike is not quite old enough. There was some good information but it was very very muddy.

In the past I've been to the old York Rally many times and on reflection I'd say York was better. I've done the Ron Kitching / Phill Liggett rides from their.

Having said that it really depends on the weather. If Eroica hadn't been muddy then it would have all been accessible.

The weather for such an event as this is the key factor. I plan to ride the 100 mile event, certainly don't fancy it in heavy rain.

Bakewell this year was MUDDY, thankfully we were pre warned of ground conditions and almost everybody apart from the riders wore wellies.
