Staunton   18 #1 Posted May 11, 2017 Try and imagine a country without ambulance crews, without nurses, without carers.  Now think of a world without telemarketers, PR consultants or corporate lobbyists!  What kind of country do you want to wake up to on 9 June? A place in which public spirit is valued or a place where hype and greed is triumphant?
 Share this content via...

Staunton   18 #7 Posted May 11, 2017 What job do you do, so we can decide if it's important in the same way you cast aspersions on other people's careers?  I'm not working in the public sector and I don't cost the taxpayer a single penny. But I'm pleased to pay tax to provide nurses and teachers, and I would be happy to pay more for a fully funded public sector (as long as its public ethos is restored and the private contractors sent packing). Staunton   18 #9 Posted May 11, 2017 What do you think will happen to the precious public sector without all that lovely money that the greedy corporate world creates for it to endlessly spend.  A nice argument, until we recall one single but vital factor - tax havens! Where you produce a product or service which is then sold for money to a consumer, at a price set by management in order to maximise profits without being becoming uncompetitive. Presumably the company you work for employs a marketing or sales team of some description, no different to telemarketers or PR specialists? How well do you think your company would do without them? Hairyloon   10 #12 Posted May 11, 2017 Are you wearing a dressing gown by any chance?  Not right at this moment, but I do know where my towel is.  ---------- Post added 12-05-2017 at 00:57 ----------  Presumably the company you work for employs a marketing or sales team of some description, no different to telemarketers or PR specialists? How well do you think your company would do without them?  If nobody has them, then it would be a level playing field, and the people with the best product and services would do best, rather than those with the fanciest advertising.  What a tragedy that would be!
